i like corner pub..it was the first place I been to, but it's really a good place to start thats about it. Cedar street is good. I go to big ben's every wednesday, it's trivia night but they have no beer specials. Tyber Creek is okay I think on thursday they have 2.50 guiness pints. Wasn't a big fan of Ed's Tavern but who knows I got pretty trashed that night. I haven't tried Connolly's but I really want to! Heard about alexander michael's but haven't been yet.

Cedar Street Tavern (even though the staff isn't all that friendly) is pretty good for an uptown "weekday bar" as well as The Pub (on Trade in Gateway).I went to Tyber Creek for the first time last Thursday and really enjoyed it. Very comfortable atmosphere.
10/31/2007 9:39:49 AM
The staff at cedar st. is very friendly. The pub just seems way too small and shady. There are always fights spilling out on the side walk.[Edited on October 31, 2007 at 10:22 AM. Reason : ]
10/31/2007 10:21:42 AM
^Yeah, Tyber Creek is my haunt. My favorite place outside of uptown, but mostly because it's walking distance to my place.Yeah, I also recommend Philospher's Stone...really chill place that's dog friendly and huge, but usually packed.
10/31/2007 10:37:59 AM
^^ OK. I WAS WRONG.
10/31/2007 3:36:35 PM
good deal. i'll have to check some of these places out. sometimes its more about the company you are keeping and not slamming back drinks and watching skirts (although that is fun). But a couple of the guys i run with don't seem to want to understand that yet.
10/31/2007 3:40:12 PM
i don't know what you meen

11/1/2007 5:57:23 PM

11/1/2007 6:26:32 PM

11/2/2007 12:02:41 PM

11/2/2007 2:33:49 PM
where do you guys live downtown??? I'm trying to find people to watch the state games with
11/2/2007 9:06:14 PM
I'm pretty sure you know I live at Fifth & PoplarCans is the best place to watch State games, and fortunately just a block from home[commence everyone telling me Cans is shitty, a terrible place to watch games, high prices, sketchy, etc.]I also sometimes find myself looking for company to watch State games with. My roommate is a nurse who works the 3rd shift; she is rarely on the correct schedule to join me. Occasionally I can convince friends to drag themselves hungover to go with me, but usually I am the only one who cares about the game
11/3/2007 5:32:16 PM
Cans is a good place to watch the games at, I've watched the ECU and today's Miami games up there. They have fried pickles and lots of tv's, not sure what the problem is.
11/3/2007 6:30:27 PM
i live 1/2 mile from cans - good times at the bball games this winter see u there
11/3/2007 8:34:56 PM

11/3/2007 10:59:14 PM
aw kelly I'll go with you to watch the games! I'm about 3 blocks from the place.
11/4/2007 12:46:12 AM
im at gateway - ill meet up with yall anytime im in town
11/4/2007 6:00:34 PM
anybody know a good plumber in north charlotte?
11/4/2007 10:14:34 PM
where's the best place to park to go to a panthers game? I don't mind walking a bit if it saves on parking prices, plus saves on hassle of fighting the crowds to get out.
11/5/2007 1:08:37 PM
^Morehead Street Tavern usually has some deal where you pay like $10 or $15 for parking but then you get like a $10 or $15 credit/voucher on your tab...so you could basically spend your parking money on an appetizer and a couple drinksI usually park on Cedar Street but I have a parking pass
11/5/2007 1:16:05 PM

rule #1 of light rail is...you cannot sit on the railsrule number 2 of light rail is they take 600 feet to stop...if you are closer than 2 football fields to a light rail train you are automatically dead...even if you're inside
11/11/2007 10:59:17 PM
person had to have been drunk to be sitting on the tracks. that particular stop is the closest one to me, and you have to walk up ~50 stairs to get to the track as it's not on ground level but elevated above the road at least 3 stories
11/11/2007 11:06:21 PM
i really am curious to find out what happened to this guyhttp://www.charlotte.com/112/story/358325.htmlseems like such a strange disappearance.
11/12/2007 10:23:09 AM
Yeah I can't stop thinking about it... I went to Buckhead after the Dane Cook show too, and stayed until 2am. There's really nothing I can do, but I've been trying to rack my brain and remember something. But it's preeeetttttttyyy blurry. It's scary though; he didn't have debit or credit cards with him, and he called his friends around 3:30am but didn't leave messages. No personal or financial problems he was running from either.Just vanished.
11/12/2007 11:22:19 AM
yeah it really is odd. That article i attached makes it seem like his friends ditched him (each left one by one over the next several hours) and when he realized it he probably paniced and didn't even thing to close out his tab and get his stuff. I hope he didn't try and hitch a ride with some strangers or worse yet get mugged while trying to walk somewhere and end up getting attacked/hurt/beaten and left to die. But for him to just vanish, man it just freaks me out.
11/12/2007 12:01:41 PM
well, where did he live? uptown?
11/12/2007 3:27:47 PM
i dunno if his friends ditched him or if he was like "nah i'm gonna hang out here a while longer"who knows though
11/12/2007 3:47:33 PM
They've been passing out fliers and shit at all the bars this weekend, including yesterday...so they still haven't found him.
