In fairness, D. Evans has physical limitations that Glennon does not. Glennon is also playing in a much more conventional offense than D. Evans did.

Some of throws that I have seen Glennon make Evans still can't make. Glennon will be 20 - 30 lbs heavier by the time he ever takes a snap in a game. (likely fall of '10 as a redshirt sophomore)

yeah, also interesting that burke is now 2nd to evans ... guess they figure beck got his chance and (literally) threw it away.

I don't see why that would be the case though.

If DE plays well and we stay in the game or God-forbid win because he controls the offense, why not let him start?

He basically said that the job was Becks and he wouldn't lose it just because he was injured . . . although you can't predict everything and if someone comes in and dominates, then they would likely continue to play. He said it with a reference to Lou Gehrig.

im willing to bet that Glennon starts next year. if we are going to have QB's who throw picks and turn the ball over, it might as well be a freshman so he can learn from it.

Marcus Udell, a 3* CB that originally signed with Alabama two years ago, has said that State is his No. 1 school right now. It would be a good pickup. Do junior college players get a RS year? I think we are the first school interested to offer, but who knows since those profiles aren't updated that often.

^^^ Don't ever go by the 'yes' or 'no' listing on scout or rivals.

Half of the time it says yes when they don't have a committable offer... the other half of the time it says 'no' when they do have a committable offer.

new rivals 100 was posted recently, and one good thing and one bad thing if you buy into all of these rankings

mike glennon moved up to the number four pure qb spot in the country and is the number 53 overall prospect in the country now; before was 94 so moved up 41 spots: leads me to believe that he will be the starter from day one when he gets here; has a big arm, very tall, needs a little bulk but easy for him b/c he is not known for his running anyway: supposedly was great at the elite 11 qb camp and most put him on ej manuel's level (who is the number one pure qb and going to florida st.)

brandon barnes moved down to number 63 in the rivals 100 and lost his five star rating and is now a four star; still really good but did drop from number 26 on the old rivals 100, down 37 spots

i have watched a lot of film on glennon and he really does appear to have all of the tools; the only tool that you cannot measure on film is his smarts (you can a little but not really) and mental toughness b/c he is just better than most people at the HS level and doesn't have a whole lot to worry about, but overall i really like the kid

^ I've heard Glennon is mentally tough until the fans start getting down on him. Like if he starts to play poorly one game and the fans boo him on a play or something, he lets it go to his head. This could mean trouble given our fan base.

so what you mean to say is that he's not mentally tough.

although i don't know how you could possibly know this about glennon. i highly doubt that he gets booed very often in highschool, seeing as he's a top10 qb in the country and, i believe, hasn't lost yet this season.

^^ No. I'm just saying we have some pretty vocal fans, myself included, and if you play poorly, we're going to let you hear about it.

^ So yes, I guess in a round-about way I was saying he's not mentally tough. And I am going on hearsay, but my friend knows a player on Glennon's high school team and that is what he and his family told my friend. Take it for what it is.

to be fair, he earned his 5* rating as an ATH, but playing a LOT of RB. this season his team hasn't really needed him as much on offense, he's been playing more slot-receiver, corner & safety. they have 3 other RB's getting the job done who don't have offers to D-1 schools, and the coach is letting them get exposure.

besides, most people are saying barnes proejcts as a safety in college anyway.

^true, but now he is just still now a 4* athlete. honestly, i don't care where he plays; we could use his athleticism on the field no matter the position; still a great athlete and i can't wait to get him on campus.

and with glennon, his brother seems to have mental toughness, as he got benched for a true frosh. at virginia tech and then when he got hurt glennon came in and did a great job last week, albeit against duke. not that it means all that much. i do still think though that glennon will be the starter the second he gets here; he has the physical gifts of beck with regards to being able to make all the throws but is smarter, according to film anyway

all this won't matter though without improved o-line play because no play works if you can't block

A lot of people are saying that Glennon will need at least one year in the weight room before he could become the starter. Please Glennon develop into a Matt Ryan, just don't take 3 years to do so.

In regards to Barnes, I think we need to use him just like USC used Reggie Bush. We may be able to hide our o-line's weakness by getting him out into the open field. Run some runs to the wide side of the field with the o-line pulling. Maybe get him on some swing passes out of the backfield, set up some blocks with the WR's and TE and let his speed do the work from there.

We'll need those guys to step up from day one. Our QBs suck ass. Baker will be coming off major knee surgery. All 3 starting LBs are seniors. We'll need help bad. I look for Glennon, Barnes and Manning to get tons of playing time next year, should be solid players by their junior years.

With regard to how will the class of 08 impact next season, the linebackers that hope to arrive in January will be starting from day one barring injury. I can see Irving being the third guy in the LB corp. However, if the two guys don't get here in January, I think Manning will still start from day one but the kid from Shelby won't, but he'll get plenty of snaps as LB has been a killer for us the last 2 seasons. I really don't see anyone other than Barnes getting significant snaps next season, but we'll have to see who TOB gets at the JUCO level, any and all of those guys I'm sure would see serious PT

Got a new commitment from a safety in Georgia, Roy Mangram. 2 stars according to Scout but has been offered by South Carolina and Clemson. Also listed Georgia, Georgia Tech and Florida as other schools of interest. Seems like a solid pickup.
