I just read on ESPN2 Bottom Line that Peter Nowak resigned as an assistant for the US men's team and a replacement will not be named at this time.
On a side note I was watching the MLS game of the week on ESPN2 and they said the US Confederations Cup games will be on ESPN2. Bash me all you want, but it's exciting to play Brazil and Italy no matter what the situation is, even if it is in a tournament that no one cares about. I doubt we'll take our best roster either.

He took the Philadelphia MLS head coaching job.

I thought I read somewhere they were putting all the US games on ESPN HD. I know they're putting the Costa Rica game on Wednesday on ESPN proper. Also, I'm also pretty sure Gulati said we would be sending our A squad to this. But to Bradley, that might mean Ching so who knows what to expect?5/29/2009 8:06:18 AM |

^I hope we take the A squad to the CC because if we don't then I don't see us winning a single game. We are in the group of death. Either way, it's still exciting to play Brazil and Italy no matter what the situation is. It will be interesting to see who makes the Gold Cup roster too. I don't think they will be too worried about winning it this time since no CC spot is on the line. The bad news is that because of this we could end up losing a home game which would be sort of embarrasing. 5/29/2009 12:15:37 PM |

There you go again, caring about the Confederations Cup.
Quote : | "I don't think they will be too worried about winning it this time since no CC spot is on the line." |
I know it's meaningless in terms of qualifying because of the CC, but to me winning GC games over shitty CONCACAF clubs is more fun than getting waxed by Brazil's C squad in a tournament that counts for absolutely nothing.

^I don't really care about it that much, it's just exciting to play Brazil and Italy no matter what the situation is. It's more exciting than playing crappy teams from CONCACAF. 5/29/2009 12:26:57 PM |

Are Brazil and Italy going to send their WC rosters? Because that would be exciting.
Really though, it's probably just a bunch of U-20 guys I don't care about. 5/29/2009 12:29:11 PM |

^I doubt they will do that since it is a tournament for the full teams.
btw, Convey didn't do anything for San Jose the other night vs Columbus. I always felt like he had a bright future with the national team, but I guess not. 5/29/2009 12:46:07 PM |

^4 i never saw convey doing anything great in the future. that kid was quick but hes small. his problem was he messed up more than he ever did good. i always hated when he got picked for the national team cause he would never do anything, and frankly im not sure how he even made it that far up on the us roster.

Costa Rica tomorrow night, here's the roster situation:
No Cherundolo or Hejduk so there's no guarantees as to who will play both outside fullback positions. Spector, Wynne, Pearce (fucking seriously hope it doesn't come to this), Bornstein (only want to see him if Pearce is the only other option), and Beasley are all possibilities. I'm guessing Spector/Beasley get the starts.
Edu's hurt so that means we could see Pablo or Clark who was just called in (FUCK). You know damn well one of them will play although I'd rather see Torres start.
Jozy's recovering from an injury; they say he's fit but it probably means Ching will start up top alone (FUCK) but knowing Bradley, he would've done that even if Jozy was 100%.
I wish we'd play for all three points considering how much we dominate CONCACAF now but we'll be pussies and play a 4-5-1 I'm sure. 6/2/2009 10:37:03 AM |

bump for tonight, game's at 10 on ESPN2, pregame show starts at 9:30
starting XI from the MNT blog
Quote : | "USA: 1-Tim Howard; 6-Marvell Wynne, 5-Oguchi Onyewu, 3-Carlos Bocanegra, 7-DaMarcus Beasley; 4-Pablo Mastroeni, 12-Michael Bradley, 9-Jose Francisco Torres; 8-Clint Dempsey, 10-Landon Donovan, 17-Jozy Altidore
Subs: 18-Brad Guzan, 2-Ricardo Clark, 11-Freddy Adu, 13-Jonathan Bornstein, 14-Jay DeMerit, 15-Charlie Davies, 16-Sacha Kljestan" |
I'm not sure if the semi-colons signify anything relating to a formation because a 4-3-3 would be so uncharacteristic of Bradley. I'm going to guess it's more of a 4-4-2, but we got a lot of speed in there and it's definitely an attacking lineup... so I'm pleased. And Ching doesn't dress because of a hamstring injury! PERFECT

it has everything to do with the 4-3-3. we cant do anything offensively with it, therefore we are giving them chances. it gives space out wide for the other team. where have both goals come from? out wide...
hell yeah another long ball! surely we will get one of them!

i am fairly confident we can string better passes together in a 4-4-2. nothing is happening at all in this formation. also where is spector? at least hes a defensive player. please get beasley out of this game.

spector's had turf toe problems so they didn't want to risk AN INJURY - we do have a game on Saturday and 11 games in the next 38 days. As sucky as this is to watch... a loss here means nothing in the grand scheme of things
it's not just that we're playing bad, we're just fucking standing there watching them
