Holy fuck that first Favela mission is hard as fuck

roommate and i spent like literally an hour trying to do that. worst part is that it saves checkpoints everytime the enemy doesn't know exactly where you are, so we spent like 20 minutes basically in circles because the markers only tell you that you have to go uphill, and not really where a path to get uphill is.

that being said, everything else i've seen in single player is cool as fuck.



Are people using stopping power or hardline?

I just dropped my UAV pack because it seems that theres almost ALWAYS a UAV up. The jammer has a HUGE bonus right now while 75% of people don't have the maps down yet, and i'm loving it.

Finished last night on an 80 win streak with a 1.9+:1 kill death. Top 5000 in kills.

As mentioned above, I have helicopter and pavelow as my top two kill streak rewards. When they are both in the air, I get huge points.

For some reason, no one else besides me takes the time to shoot down the enemy birds. I love to hear and inbound helicopter, pull out the stinger, and dissapoint the kiddies

People have also not learned the huge value of tactical insertion. On the map with the really high tower, I will make it up there and start picking people off with an M16. I will place the tactical up there. If I get preoccupied, someone will come up and knife me, just for me to respawn and kill them right back. They never see it coming. I went 30:1 there last night.

So there still seems to be quite a few issues in the multiplayer portion on the PS3. A patch is coming tomorrow to fix the party system thankfully. It was amazing to see how many times the "PLAYER signed off" "PLAYER signed on" work-around to get into a party happened last night. I personally did it at least 15 times.

Secondly, at least 3 times when i went to try and find a match on my own and nothing was available and my system tried to start a new lobby with me as the host my ps3 froze completely. I would have to do a hard switch off and on again to restart the system. I hope that's just a small glitch and they are aware of it.

Thirdly...I tried Spec-Ops with a friend last night. It was his party, not sure how he is connected to the internet (i'm wifi), but the game was extremely laggy. I mean i hadn't seen that amount of lag since the early days of TFC and CS. We didn't make it 15 seconds before we gave up. I'm hoping that he's on wifi too or something and thus just wasn't a strong enough host.

And lastly...and this may just be my crappy sound setup..but i feel like there is no discernible sound to tell when your shots are making contact with the enemy. I know specifically on COD4 (since i havent played WaW in a few months) that you could really hear if your bullets were on target, now to me it seems like everything sounds the same.

Well, I caved in and got it on PC, heres what I think:

Single player is epic, the maps are expansive and amazing, and while there are a couple questions that have to be asked, it was a hell of a lot of fun. A few of my friends and I believe they may release mini-campaign additions as DLC in the future, which would explain why its so open-ended.

Specops mode is probably the most fun so far, the earlier missions are fairly easy, but as you progress into the second and third (as far as I am right now) categories (all on veteran), it gets very hard. In particular we just got to the scenario where you have to breach the locker room (straight out of "The Rock" btw ) and its damn near impossible. Everyone has shotguns on the ground level, there are constantly guys up top shooting from behind cover, and then a dozen or so riot-shields come charging at you... Nonetheless, its a great challenge, and really tests your strategy and teamwork. I would love to see more of these available with future map pack expansions.

Multiplayer, the thing a lot of people are so upset about. Well, tbh, they did a pretty good job with it. IWnet is simple and easy to connect to a game, and is probably the best auto-matching system I have used in PC gaming. Lag has not been a problem for me, there was one instance where I just left the game and joined a new one, but for the most part everyone has really good pings. The changing host process is a bit of a pain, but it doesn't happen very often.
Gameplay wise, the feel is a bit different from COD4. MW2 is definitely more close-combat oriented, and the maps are smaller and more restricted (not a lot of big open spaces). As an avid shot-gun fan, this has been a blessing with almost every map catering to a shorter ranged playstyle. My K ratio is up and down, sometimes going 16-3 or 9-12...But until I learn the maps, consistantcy will have to wait. As a hardcore fan in COD4, I am really looking forward to unlocking hardcore TDM in MW2, I feel using a half a clip to kill someone is a pain, and is favorable for those bunny-hopping SMG spammers.

I was pretty surprised with the multiplayer on PC, it has definitely been better than I imagined, and this game will get a lot of playtime from me.

On some maps, absolutely. But most of the time I run around with my head cut off. Maps like the one with the tower are much like Dome in WAW. It doesnt benefit you to be running around. Then its just a race.

I am so happy that the M79 and M203 (or whatever the underbarrel grenade launcher for each rifle) don't share the same ammo. I am now interested in seeing how much more damage Danger Close does for explosives.

Went 25-3 last night with a 22 kill streak in MTD. Finished up the FAMAS challenges and switched to the M4A1 for the first time. Also got the silencer for the sniper rifle which should be interesting to try out tonight.

I was a little irritated with my kill streak. Right now it is at 20, but it should be 29. I dont understand it. I started a match, got one kill then was killed. Then did not die for the rest of the match, and my harrier strike and pavelow were absolutely destroying everyone. Went to the end of the match 30-1, and it did not update the streak.

BTW: I LOVE the way it renegotiates the match when the host drops out. Doesnt seem to work always, but normally it is great.

Do kills from support (i.e. helicopter, air strikes, etc) not count toward your killstreak anymore the way they did in all the previous games? I'll get five kills then two more with a predator and I'll still need two more kills to get to my 7 kill killstreak reward. Or I'll get a helicopter, die, then call it in and get 7 kills off of it without getting a single killstreak reward. The kills from support still show up in your total number of kills but it seems like the only kills that count toward your streak now are the ones you actually make yourself.

Yes, they do. They do if they are used in the same life that you attained them. My kill streak is set for harrier at 7 and Pavelow at 9. When I get the harrier, I wait 20 seconds for the harrier to get 2 kills, then the pavelow becomes active.

Its possible some of the rewards dont count, but I can guarantee you, as I have called in the Pavelow over 30 times, that the harrier gets me the two kills everytime I need for Pavelow.

BUT YOU CANT DIE, THEN CALL IN A REWARD AND HAVE IT START A NEW KILL STREAK.

I should be at level 50 tonight and I will unlock the chopper gunner. When I do, I will have harrier at 7, then the gunner at 11. The harrier should get me all the kills to be a gunner. I'll tell you tomorrow how this worked out.

Good to know - I was wondering about this. I got a stealth bomber from a care package and carpet bombed almost the whole enemy team, and it didn't start a streak.

Thats good to know. I was tempted to unlock the emergency airdrop, but if those kills dont count toward your streak, then what real good are they?

BTW. I had an EMP dropped on me the other day. Since I use the UMP with iron site, couldnt have bothered me in the least, but does anyone else think this is fairly worthless? I guess if you have the red dot, it would make your life more difficult.

BTW: UMP with bling to include silencer and FMJ is the heat. Almost unbeatable. I drop people with that weapon like I did the MP40 on WAW. I try other weapons, but nothing holds a candle to it.

^EMP is one of the best streak rewards. It does more than fuck up your red dot site. It will take down UAV's, enemy choppers etc. I usually hang onto mine for a while.

Ok, I didnt have any of those in the air at the time, so it didnt matter to me. My screen just went a little fuzzy and I continued on.

Quite honestly, though, shooting planes out the sky is super easy. I am amazed that I seem to be the only person who does it. I refuse to allow anyone more than a couple kills with their aircraft before I stinger them out of the sky.

The AC130 is fun, but I think overrated. My pavelow/harrier combo seem to kill a lot more than the AC could. I think the chopper gunner is going to be badass, though.

Whats funny, is that every AC130 I have been in, was a result of a care package that was just laying on the ground. People would be running by it, ignoring it. I steal just about every care package I can.

I was playing in Favela last night and was holed up guarding two flags in Domination that were ours with me in one window a, a teammate below near the entrance and a Sentry Gun in the other window...

We held those two flags the entire game and blew away the other team. So much fun...

Should be over 100 tonight. As soon as I join a team death match game as lose, its gone (because the bastards at Infinity Ward decided not to segment the game types, and thus my win streak is universal, not one game type to another). I need the streak to be respectable before I piss it away. From the looks of the top players, seems once I get over 100, I'll be in a very select crowd, and over 150 will be near the very top (for now, anyway).

yeah, I know. Just not used to being very good at games. Was never a good PC gamer. Constantly winning is addictive When I lose, I get really pissy. I broke my microphone throwing it across the room, and need to replace it.

Anyone else notice how completely shitty the claymores are? Basically a waste of a perk most of the time. A few maps it serves a purpose, but it more for early detection (of someone behind you) rather than to get a kill.

hehe, yeah the very first care package I dropped landed right on an enemy and killed them. It was hilarious.

What is also funny is people not knowing how tactical insertion works. They accuse you of cheating when you spawn right behind them and knife them 2 seconds after they kill you. That tower I mentioned earlier is the absolute best spot.
