$125 sounds a little high... Shouldn't take but an hour to an hour and a half to do what he needs to do. Ron is pretty steep. Check and see Henry's. I'm sure they'll do it for less. It's not a complicated task (1 weld + bolt on install). I'd go to Ron If i needed something Mandrel bent. 5/31/2011 4:27:44 PM |

Yeah I've decided to go to RJ's. Only problem is the exhaust doesn't fit in my car. Gonna have to drop it off with another vehicle and then return with the S2000 5/31/2011 7:13:35 PM |

Nope! I just tried and it might actually be possible but if I was in an accident one of those hangers would almost certainly impale me, lol. Not to mention a very good chance it would scratch the shit out of my interior. 5/31/2011 8:01:24 PM |

Finally picked up a semi-serious air compressor, but now I've got air-tool fever. I'm compelled to replace every tool in my garage with an air-powered version.
So far, instead of working, I've wasted 2 hours ogling impact drivers and paint sprayers on craigslist. Anyone want to weigh in on whether I should invest in a set of impact tools in 3/8 or 1/2? I'm mostly going to be doing motorcycle and basic car stuff, but I may be pulling the axles and timing-parts in the near future. 6/1/2011 1:14:44 PM |

Doing oil changes on both cars this weekend. S2000's last oil change was 10 months ago (and just over 10k miles) and the Integra's last oil change was 14 months ago (around 6k miles) 6/1/2011 2:08:31 PM |

i would go with a 1/2" drive impact. i've never been using the 1/2" impact and thought "damn, i wish i had a 3/8" impact for this". a 3/8" drive air ratchet can be handy, though. 6/1/2011 2:32:36 PM |

you can get a 1/2" to 3/16" impact drive adapter for when you're thinking about doing something dumb. but a 3/16" drive probably won't have the nuts to get something off that you need a 1/2" drive impact socket for. 6/1/2011 2:51:41 PM |

1/2 impact and a set of sockets for big stuff, 3/4 inch air ratchet and some swivels. Just get one of those inexpensive kits that also have air chisel, grinnding wheel, and a blower. They hold up to a home use just fine as long as you keep them oiled. Ratchets are usually the first one to go, but you can pick up a better replacement one downs the road. Unless you are in a shop environent, you may find yourself only using air tools when you really reallt need them. They are loud, and air runs out fast unless you have a commercial size tank. Cordless electric 1/4 inch impact and some swiwels go a long way in replacing air rachet in a package that is quiter and sometime easier to move around.

you're 3/4 1/4 etc stuff confuses the shit out of me, a 3/4" ratchet is emeffing huge.

^^sorry i meant 3/8 for the air ratchet. Still bad with these standard sizes. Until my buell i had no need for anything but metric tools, and ratches sizes id the only time i even use fractions.
as far as the 1/4'' impact driver, give it try sometime. It does same thing for your car that cordless drill does for your ikea furniture, makes turning fasteners 10x faster than a manual ratchet. It won't take any axle nuts off, that's what your 1/2'' air impact is for, but it will loosen up most fasteners with a thread up to around 1/4'' 6/2/2011 8:50:39 AM |

Tore down and soaked my Holley boat carb overnight. Sat down with a good old school hot rodder and rebuilt it. I had done minor carb work in the past, but it was good to have someone who really knew every piece of it to go through it with me. He also did a lot of smoothing and deburring of stuff that was left over from the factory which was probably overkill, but he's one of those guys who tries to get every last horsepower out of his stuff. Put it back on with a new fuel line and the boat fired right up. Didn't get a chance to water test it yet. 6/2/2011 10:43:11 AM |

Adjusted the R134a level in the Corvette...it was overcharged. Seems to be blowing much colder now.
Added some R134a to the Ram...still too low. Picked up another can and will add it tomorrow.
Removed the exhaust heat shield and #3 cylinder head from my Waverunner. It's fucked.

jaZon - When you pick up a porter cable, get an orange light cut pad and 2-3 white polishing pads. You can do almost everything you need to do with those pads. Also, try to find 5.5" polishing pads, they let the machine work a little better and bog down less than standard 6.5" pads.
Just start out of the sun, on a clean (washed, clay'd) surface, and try your least aggressive polish/compound first. Then work down to more aggressive depending on what you need to remove (swirls, spots etc). I like Meguiars #105 and #205 for a locally available compound/polish. Make sure to use speeds 4-6 and go in slow overlapping passes. Use only a dime size amount of product for a 2'x2' area. Also, make sure you are using good quality towels to remove the polish or else you risk marring the surface you just polished.
Any other questions, PM me 6/3/2011 11:03:08 AM |
