That call did not cost us a title. We lost that game several times that day. Get the fuck over it.

Congrats to coach and the team and here's to next season.

We still have to play 8 ACC games

Saying a better than .500 ACC record is a lock for an NC State Football team is quite the foolish endeavor

Lose the best QB in the ACC - ho hum. Just another day of chopping wood at NCSU

Anyone remember when TOB was afraid to make the ACC championship game, he purposefully sabotaged our play calling? I guess he wanted to start earlier this year. He saw our easy ass schedule and got serious performance anxiety.

I hope for his sake that we have a really good season next year, but if Glennon turns out to be shit and we just showed one of the best QBs to ever play at NC State the door, O'Brien should be fired.

I agree with his comments that Wilson should have made a commitment to the football team this spring, but he also should have given him a chance to come in this fall and compete given what he's done for O'Brien over the past 3 seasons. This leaves a very bad taste in my mouth and Russell's comments from yesterday confirmed that it was a terrible happening.

TOB did give Wilson a chance by allowing him to show up this fall. The opportunity was there.

Suppose Wilson showed up this fall as the backup. If Glennon struggles in games and Wilson shows he's better in practice, do you think TOB would keep Russell Wilson on the sidelines? Really?

You really think the fans would be ok with Russell starting the season as a backup to a guy who has never taken a meaningful snap?

What the fuck does a 3 year starter with a chance to break a ton of school and ACC records need to do to prove he should be the starter in his senior season? TOB says it was show up to spring practice, which would require him just not playing baseball since he would need to enroll in classes most likely. Considering his height, you really think its a good idea to just give up your active career in baseball for an outside chance to play pro football?

My biggest problem with O'Brien's decision, is that he let Wilson miss spring practice last year and still let him compete for the starting position, which he subsequently won. I get what everyone is saying about Wilson knowing he should have played spring ball if he wanted a chance, but O'Brien being inconsistent is what pisses me off. Wilson is making it sound like he could have come back, played in fall practice and been the better qb, and still not be the starter. If thats true, O'Brien as much of a dumbass as he is an asshole.

We're not talking about a scrub 1 year starter here, we're talking about a player who is loved universally by the fanbase and had a chance to go down as one of the greatest players in NC State history. You don't dick over guys like that for essentially trying to continue a baseball career IN CASE he doesn't make it in pro football. Sure, you don't let all of your players take the spring off for another career, but Wilson has done more than enough for the school and football program to deserve the right to make that decision.

I think you missed the point...we're not talking about every other player. You're talking about a fucking superstar who has proven his worth on and off the field. I get that O'Brien is preaching consistency, but he's being inconsistent from his decision to let wilson do it last year too.

look

you god damn mouth breathers

we didn't get rid of him

he left to play professional baseball

TOB has to get behind Glennon, its a different offense under him and Wilson did not say or even strongly suggest that he would come back

Wilson getting a release was because he would like to keep the option open just in case, but he has made no suggestion that he is looking for another program

we did not run him out

i have no idea if he plays somewhere else, but if he does its not because we forced him out and TOB still made the right decision getting behind Glennon no matter how well Wilson may hypothetically do at some unnamed program he has yet expressed an interest in finding

you guys are fucking retarded

^ Right. It's possible but unlikely that Wilson doesn't even play next year. He just wanted the opportunity to.

The issue with Wilson this year vs. last year IMO is that we have retooled the entire offense to fit Glennon since RW didn't commit to the team until we'd already done so, and there's an entirely new WR corps this year. Him being here this spring would've been hugely beneficial to the team and his success this coming season. I wish RW had said he was coming back months ago so we could've avoided all of this, but TOB had to deal what the situation was.

Personally I still don't think the Rockies will even let him play this year. He'd have to leave his Single-A team before their season ended so that he would even be able to make the first few games.

I'm totally behind TOB here, but it's worth noting that Glennon said a few weeks ago that it's the same playbook, same offense, they're just running a few different plays now. So to say it's a completely retooled offense is a bit of stretch. Still, the fact that three of his top four receivers from last year are gone is huge.

I think you missed the point. You show the fuck up to practice and you get to compete. Now whenever a team doesn't feel like showin up at the right time for the game they can call ahead and be like "hey, we got blitzed last night. We don't feel like showin up until halftime. Go ahead and just start the game at the beginning of the 2nd half, we'll be there, k?"

Quote :

And MAYBE he learned last year that it was a bad fuckin idea. But hey, I guess coaches aren't supposed to learn from bad decisions, are they? nope, just let the superstars run the team. That worked out really well for Sidney, didn't it?

point stands burro. I said all along that I understand the decision but it is my opinion that you let upstanding guys like Russell Wilson do what they need to do succeed even if that means fucking up your own philosophy for a season or two...in addition to the fact that he let him do it last year. Its not like he was trying out for fucking dancing with the stars. And to the basketball argument....well Sidney let fucking freshman run the team. RW is a fucking 5th year senior who has proven his worth.

And regarding the superstar comment, few college players are and RW is obviously not, but he was one of the only damn reasons it was worth watching NC State football for at least 2 of the last 3 seasons as bad as our defense was, so I'm allowed to exaggerate it a tad.

Wilson was on campus playing for State last Spring. He got drafted in June and played the short season league. That's not really the same thing.

Yeah it's the same playbook however I imagine they are practicing a shit ton more quick passes from the pocket while RW could barely see out of the pocket. When you have an inexperienced corps of receivers I imagine you want them to get as many reps as possible with the starting QB to develop timing and chemistry. RW is not available to "train" this receiving corps so you have to go with the QB who is.
