Cleveland won 66 two years ago with LeBron and The Retard Crew

but I agree, 70 seems a bit optimistic

I just can't wait to see what kind of team they are when either Wade or LBJ gets hurt

Also the Heat, while having the best trio in the NBA, will definitely have the worst '2nd unit' of any team in the NBA

And they're gonna have to log a lot of minutes

Not a big deal if Spoelstra tiers the minutes so one of the big three is almost always on the floor as long as the game is in doubt

Even a lineup of Chalmers, House, Miller, Bosh and Big Z isn't that terrible compared to some other second units

They'd still be playing at an equivalent of a 50-55 win team at the least

the celtics management fucked up this off season, if they would have upgraded their team somehow, ie gotten rid of the one of the big three and gone for some guys in their low to mid 20s that can develop in to 15-16 ppg scorers then they would have been right back in the hunt but when your team played their hearts out and still came up a little short and is rapidly aging while other teams are upgrading then you are going to go downhill fast

the celts didnt have a ton of options though they are going to take one more crack at it but yeah they definitely overpaid for Pierce, Allen, and Jermaine.

they are no doubt thinking that they have a little bit of a window left open and just need to add another piece or two to put themselves over the hump. Kinda similar to what the Spurs and the Pistons did in the last season or two of their "dynasty" runs.

I agree that they are going to be up shit's creek without a paddle in a year or two when everyone on their team retires or is too old to play anymore, they have made no effort at all to bring in any sort of youth. Rondo and Big Baby are the only two young players they have who get any sort of worthwhile playing time.

Shaq needs to hang it up, he is becoming a little bit of a laughing stock now, just trying to catch on wherever he can fit, in a desperate attempt at chasing down one more ring. Its pretty funny how good his image and respectability was around the league compared to Kobe when he left the Lakers, now their images have switched and kobe looks like the more respected player and teammate

Haslem got busted with a 3rd degree felony's worth of weed, could mean a suspension is coming his way

I cant wait to hear Jim Rome's dumbass talk about this story. He loves to say as many different slang terms for marijuana when he has a story about a player getting busted.

3rd degree felony possession in Florida is simply > 20 grams

Probably just his smoke sack

I think we all know what product runs the streets of Miami, and its not weed

Melo trade talks are currently ramping up. He wants to be moved before the start of training camp. This article summarizes the candidates nicely.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5602165

Insider seems to think he'll end up with the Nets.

RealGM reporting that the Nuggets are exploring 3 way trade talks with the Bulls and Knicks currently.

They also have a separate article discussing how far apart Noah and the Bulls are with an extension, but then go on to mention that the Bulls will not include him in any trade talks. It sounds like the Nuggets want Noah, a first rounder, and an expiring contract. You HAVE to make that deal Chicago.

Updated Carmelo rumours per ESPN
Quote :
"The Denver Nuggets are having serious discussions about a four-way trade that would land Carmelo Anthony with the New Jersey Nets, according to sources with knowledge of the negotiations.
The proposed deal, sources said, also would involve the Utah Jazz and the Charlotte Bobcats. It would deliver Nets rookie forward Derrick Favors, Jazz veteran Andrei Kirilenko and multiple first-round picks to Denver in exchange for their franchise player, potentially bringing a resolution to Anthony's uncertain future before the Nuggets hold their first practice of the new season.

Sources told ESPN.com that the deal, which has yet to be finalized, also would send former All-Star point guard Devin Harris to Charlotte, with Bobcats forward Boris Diaw moving to Utah.

apparently the hang up on the trade is that the Nets want Augustin, but the Bobcats want to keep him to back up Harris

giving up both favors and harris would be tough for the nets, I can see why they are insisting carmelo sign an extension with them

Harris has tapered off a lot but he's still a productive player that could possibly raise his game after a season or two under Brown like felton did.

Getting rid of diaws shitty play and shitty contract would be amazing.

Obviously I'd rather keep augustin than lose him but he hasn't shown much potential (tho he is young) and if he's all that's keeping us from shedding diaw and we get harris it should be a no brainer deal for us.

I know the nets are desperate but I like favors potential and just don't think carmelo is worth it... The bulls weren't dumb enough to trade an elite player like noah for him they know they have a chance to be pretty good with their current lineup.

The really big news is the heat potentially landing dampier. He's 35 but he's still playing at a really high level and their glaring weakness is not having a legitimate starting center.

Carmelo better get used to NOT winning. There is no help on that NJ roster and Avery Johnson is your head coach. Good luck with that.

Bring on Devin Harris

Nj added anthony morrow in the offseason and if outlaw can stay healthy (huge if) he's been a productive player. Obviously lopez is one of the better centers in the league...

But yeah that's a 30 win team or so

^^^ No one would trade a guy like Noah straight up for Carmelo, especially when Noah is coming off a breakout year like that.

From a business standpoint I get Carmelo, he's a guy that score a lot of points.

But from a basketball standpoint he's already in his prime and he hasnt proven that he can be a great player so its just unlikely that it's going to happen.

He's a bit of a tease because he's been so phenomenal the past two times he's played for the U.S. world team so it makes you wonder what he can do on a great team, but as far as a #1 offensive option he's a known quantity so there's no reason to trade an elite player like Noah for him.

I think you're overestimating Noah big time. Or maybe just using the term "elite" a bit loosely.

You're also underestimating the value of 30ppg being scored at an efficient rate.

I'm not necessarily saying the bulls should give up Noah. There are other factors to consider, contracts, the fact that Noah presents a defensive center much like KG for them to anchor the team, the bulls also have several players that will be able to do what Melo can do (sorta). It isn't an easy decision to make.

Melo tried to play off the trade rumors at media day by saying he never requested a trade.

Riiight, you didn't, but all your reps did.

Also funny that people were toasting Melo to a new life with the Knicks at his wedding with Nuggets brass right there watching.

Now Lebron says race has been playing a part in why everyone hates him since joining the Heat.

There is a some truth there.

I don't know if it is as big a deal as Maverick and Lebron make it out to be, but I feel like some of the hate was fueled by that.

If you put Steve Nash in that exact same scenario he doesn't see nearly the backlash that Bron did.

^^Eh...I dunno about all that...its hard to come up with a good comparison since...all the best players in the NBA are black

Besides, I think generally speaking, most NBA fans by definition aren't prejudiced against black people...now the "college basketball only" fans are another story

I think some of the hate is the fact that he went on national television to shit on Cleveland

and not specifically that he left the Cavs, just how he left

race card is always a scape goat and theres no difference here.

I don't blame him at all for leaving that shitty franchise; nor do I care that he had a special on ESPN about his decision. ESPN has garbage on 75% of the time anyways.

Anyone, white or black, that was supposed to be the next coming of Jordan was going to get the exact reaction he has gotten given his behavior.

I think if at some point during the offseason, he had told Cleveland that he had enjoyed his 7 years playing for the franchise, etc etc, but that he was going to go off to another team in free agency, the public reaction would've been a lot better

Cleveland fans would still be pissed obviously, but at least they would've gotten a heads up...and he still could've done his special, as Knicks, Bulls, Heat and Nets fans were still anxious about the decision

I don't know many people outside of Cleveland who can blame him for leaving, but I know a lot of people who thought he could've gone about it in a much more tactful way

Let's not kid ourselves here. Race DOES play a role in almost everything in America. They embellish the point too much, but what they are saying isn't necessarily untrue in that interview.

Nah, it doesnt have anything to him being a huge douche about it and then playing it off like it was for the kids:

Quote :
"Lost in the controversy, said James, was the fact that The Decision raised $3 million for the Boys & Girls Club of America.

For me to have an opportunity to give back to the Boys & Girls Club of America, that I would never change that. And if I have to take heat to give back to kids, I would do it the same way every single time."

Hey dickhead, you're pulling down 110 million dollars over the next couple of years from the Heat and however many hundreds of millions from endorsements. Dont act like the only way to "save the kids!!!" was you going on national TV, making a big spectacle of yourself, and taking a huge dump right on your home state. You've become the 6th most hated athlete because your "yes men" high school buddies dont know squat about public relations.

yeah, everyone knows I'm a Cavs fan, and I had it in the back of my mind that he could leave, but I held onto hope that he would stay (just like Chicago, NY, NJ fans thought he might come to their respective teams leading up to the decision). Once he announced he was going to have a special on espn I thought there was no way he would spurn his home state, the one he confessed his love for so many times, on national tv. I wouldnt be nearly as upset at Lebron had he gone about things like Carmelo is in Denver.

But as it stands, fuck Lebron and his holier than thou attitude.

I'd have to give lebron a C- on pulling the race card here, although granted it was more his agent or whoever, I'm not even sure what the exact argument is but when there are 1000 different opinions on all the different stars of the nba who are black then I don't see how you can complain in one specific instance
