Did I hear correctly that they had T. Gentry come in to play DT and he got injured? The 2011 NCSU DT curse

Pleasantly surprised with the improvement of our O-line today. Glennon had some time and only took a few sacks (one of which he should have released the ball instead of pump faking).

Improved running game helped as well, although one playcall that I didn't care for was the draw on 3rd and long. I'll take that call on 3rd and 8 or so, but we called that on 3rd and 18, I think.

Both of these improvements are what I was expecting to see at the start of the season. I'm wondering if maybe the OLine is just now getting used to have a QB who stays in the pocket behind them. I dunno. But I swear to God every time Glennon gets sacked he runs the risk of snapping those lanky-ass legs of his.

DLine would have played great today if they just would have stopped trying to time the snap count. It's gotta be pretty hard to bring pressure on 4th and short against such a tricky offense, especially when you've got players playing out of position or with little experience. Having Sweezy back really helped though, and hats off to Gentry for playing D today. Any word on the extent of his injury?

George really fucked us with his Personal Foul in the first half. He's gotta be smarter than that. It killed a good drive. Our offense moved the ball decently today, and we left some points on the field with a missed FG and some personal fouls.

Also, I gave Georgia Tech's QB waaay too much credit coming in to todays game. He didn't look any better than Nesbit, in my opinion. Not sure if he just had an off day or if that is going to be the kind of QB Georgia Tech fields from here on out with that offense.

All in all, I really wanted to see some confidence in our rushing attack today and improved OLine play, which I think we showed. We've got a winnable game against CMU and then a bye week, which will really help. Here's to hoping our defense gets back to being healthy before we have Virginia. If we can get to that game at 3-3, then I think we can finish this season on a high note.

If not, then I imagine this board will be overrun by some mark-ass-bitches prematurely calling for O'Brien's head.

glennon does just enough to not be considered a post-russell bust, but little enough to dig us a nice hole every game.

those who merely read his stats have zero argument.

its not his fault, it's TOBs. but he isn't as good as he was supposed to be (which still was supposed to be a step down, at least in year 1). you can keep deluding yourself into thinking he's great if you want though

^^^everyone knew spencer would drop shit. that was only one player too.

Just about everyone is dropping shit this year. The guy with the best hands on the team has dropped several balls this year at terrible times

Way better than Marcus Stone (aka Frankenstein)

Not as good as P. Riv though...

Much better end result than expected. Pleased with the running game. Not sure about the defense... atrocious in the first quarter, but good in the second and first part of the third (as was pointed out - GT didn't score for almost 30 minutes). Not pleased with Bryan, and not pleased with Graham getting 0 touches, but oh well.

The defense seemed to give up after the pick six, which could have cost us the game. We made a strong comeback and if they hadn't given up on GT's two scoring drives near the end, we might have been in the game.

Oh well.

I'm pretty sure the ranking of post rivers/pre wilson QBs goes like this:

Davis

Evans

Stone

Punting on first down

Beck

so in the last 3 minutes of the game or so, did GT put in scrubs or did we just get really lucky, or both?

We played better than everyone expected, gave good effort, and improved in several areas.

A few things go our way: the no-call on the PI to open the game, we stay onsides on 3 4th down tries, and Bryan doesn't pick up a stupid dead-ball foul call, and we would have had a shot to win a game nobody thought we would even be close in.

^^^^^Can't really play the what if game here because if GT's QB could hit wide open WRs we could've lost by 40 as well.

of course i'm not reading this whole thread, but Baumann injured his groin in warmpus, and DT Cato-Bishop injured his hand, and Gentry suffered an ankle injury while filling-in on the defensive line....

seriously, we may may have to start bringing more OLs over to the defensive side, we're running out, it's quite ridiculous. At least Sweezy seems to be back, for now.

if we beat cmu uva and bc (the only teams left on our level) can we count both fcs wins towards our 4th and 5th wins making us 1 win away from a bowl?

[Edited on October 2, 2011 at 1:51 PM. Reason : if so then the maryland statement seems realistic]

Look at the difference JUST having Sweezy back made for our defense.

Here's to waiting for the rest of our team to get healthy
