I actually rate him higher than it seems a lot of others do. He's a very capable replacement/partner for Suarez who has proven he can score goals in the prem. Plus he's young so there's potential for more there.

But for the price, it sure looks like LFC is overpaying for a mediocre talent again. And Demba Ba is 5 mil cheaper.

I think Ba might be a bit of fool's gold.

He's great when he's healthy, but I've read around that it tough to attain insurance on him due to his chronic knee problems and it's only a matter of time before he breaks down.

Sturridge could make quite a mark if he comes up big when yall play ManU in a couple of weeks

I think he's worth the gamble at 7 mil though. And I think Dempsey + Ba for 12 would have been a better value than Borini or Sturridge for Liverpool.

Rodgers may turn out to be a good coach but it's pretty clear to me that he sucks at finding value in the transfer market. That could be because of the LFC name and the current state of their roster/club but he has overpaid for every single transfer. So did Dalglish I guess, but FSG's MO was supposed to be finding value and all that other bullshit and Rodgers is their guy.

Well, they're currently signing young players on free transfers. Send them out on loan and if they don't make the first team, sell them on for a profit. Besides, Dempsey isn't exactly a spring chicken and I've been somewhat unimpressed with Sigurdsson when he does play. Striker is really the only position that Spurs don't have much depth or young prospects. Everywhere else, there is intense competition for first-team spots and it's having a positive effect on the club.

Dembele is sporting a 90% pass completion rate this season and iirc is in the top 3 in passes completed in the opponents final 3rd. Among those ~15 players with 90+ in the prem he's only behind Nasri in key passes completed as well. Couple that with being in the top 10 in tackles per match and you've got a pretty nice CM. He can be nitpicked a bit for not finding that ambitious final pass to cut defenses open and not shooting as often as Modders, but hell, nobody's perfect.

Certainly not in the same class as Luka, but very few are.
