You meant to say 6th, and yes you could argue that. It's pretty tight between Dallas, Philly, Detroit, and Arizona.

Though I'd give the edge to Green Bay with a healthy Rodgers.

Obviously the Seahawks, Panthers, Saints, Bears, and Niners are better than the Cardinals right now.

The Cardinals defense is flat out amazing (Peterson might end up being the best CB ever) but their offense still sucks.

the Bears, who got 42 points hung on them today

did you check to see if whatever stats site you're going off of updated its standings from today's games?

No, because today's games weren't necessary to make the statements I made.

the Bears are 4th best in scoring offense this year, and 4th worst in scoring defense

that screams middle of the pack to me, not elite like you claim

only the Jags, Falcons, Vikings and Redskins have allowed as many or more points...4 teams that suck

as the resident Bears expert, I feel the Cardinals are a much better team at this moment

and the Cards are clearly better than the Niners

it's a coin flip between them and the Panthers

Heard that Rivers & the Chargers are the only team in the NFL with 4 or more wins against teams with winning records

^As a Redskin fan, I feel bad that they ruined their chances at a playoff spot with that terrible loss against the Skins.

The AFC is so clusterfucked this year that 5-6 is still in good position to make the playoffs so San Diego isnt out just yet. 4 home games left

let's discuss running backs

# of 1,000 Yard Rushers:

2012 - 16
2011 - 15
2010 - 17
2009 - 15
2008 - 16
2007 - 17
2006 - 23
2005 - 16
2004 - 18
2003 - 18

ESPN projects there will be only 12 that rush for 1,000 this year. 8 are locks (McCoy, Peterson, Lynch, Charles, Morris, Forte, Moreno, Lacy), 2 are probable (Gore, Johnson), 2 are iffy (Bush, Mathews)

Injuries? More passing? What's the difference between 2006 with 23 who did it, and this year where we might only get 10

Considering most teams use a dual RB system, some even have 3 RBs, its tough to find a true 1000 yard rusher.

couple that with injuries and the fact that the league has become so pass heavy.

Teams are only averaging 1 less run per team per game in '13 than they were in '06 (2 more passes per team per game), so it's not lack of rushing attempts

I'd say the growing prominence of RB by committee is a pretty big reason

Other potential issues:
- Head coaches seem to be more likely to bench a RB after a fumble than they used to be
- Potentially more RB injuries this season than normal (or more OL injuries could have an effect too I guess)
- Playcalling, maybe coaches are passing more outside of the red zone but running more inside the red zone
- More running QBs in the league means more rushing attempts are going to them than to RBs

coaches have found that unless you have a gamebreaker type back ala Adrian Peterson, Barry Sanders, etc...that its really more about the o-line and less about the back. Therefore, you can spend less on runningbacks and have more of them and just keep them fresh. Shanahan has done this for years to great effect.

What do you expect? The 49ers knew their plays and his WRs weren't getting open.

If RG3 does one thing well, it's making sacks look like season ending injuries.

i never understand why on scoring replays they always show the obvious goal-line cam last after a sequence of indeterminate shots. that guy is obviously short but they show a field level shot from inside the endzone, as if thats going to show anything

Man, I hate seeing players get inadvertant concussions like what happened to Jennings. Especially since Jennings busted his ass to get playing time and now will probably go back to bring a backup whenever he gets healthy
