If you're due an update, a few hundred pennies. I've been with Alltel since the end of '01, and thus Verizon since... '09? So this was my new-every-two cheap upgrade, otherwise the phone still costs $Texas. 8/11/2013 9:53:01 PM |

anyone have issues with google maps/navigation? ever since the last update to it, I'm having serious issues.
If you're navigating and you go from that being the active app to another app being the active app, when returning to nav, it doesn't return me to navigation, but just the map (nav is still in pulldown bar, but even selecting that takes me back to the map and not navigation - I have to reselect my start/end destination). And when I select the destination and then start nav, it FCs several times before working. 8/12/2013 10:40:20 AM |

Oh I decided to get some new headphones, I have been using Monster Lil' Jamz that I got for $29.99 on clearance. What does everyone think of these NuForce 700X? I know they aren't known for great bass, but that isn't what I am worried about anyway. I am hoping these will also do decent with my Pandora Mini when playing guitar through headphones.

The nav app in the app draw was hidden with the last update since maps/nav were combined. You had to go to maps to get to nav. not a big issue (to me), but just something you needed to be informed of.
so on top of maps/nav not working correctly, play music app FCs constantly, pandora won't accept my password (fine on my computer, not my phone...), and slacker won't work (tuning error). wtf mang.

Got the Samsung dock. This thing is pretty sweet. x3 USB ports, hdmi port, and audio out jack. Can hook up a Logitech unifying receiver for mouse+keyboard, wireless 360 dongle for 1-4 controllers, and an external HDD plus HDMI out to an HDTV. Works really well for movies and a portable emulator.

Go to widgets, find the widget named "directions". Type your address, and name the short cut. There is a check box (that is defaulted) to launch navigation immediately.8/13/2013 10:02:31 PM |

There's also the option of setting your home address to your account, and entering Google now. I almost always have a card showing me the commute time home, with a navigation button.
The short cut works well though.
I like the new maps personally. I don't like the fact that the terrain layer was removed, I used that on occasion on my tablet for shits and giggles. But otherwise it works fine for me. 8/14/2013 10:15:33 AM |

Yeh, I just use google now to get to nav for common destinations/appointments. Every time I get to work in the morning (which google now gives time & route for automatically), it automatically switches to tell me the route/time home... I guess it's just a sign I should turn around and just go home. 8/14/2013 12:00:08 PM |

Of course I say that, but that card hasn't show up all day. And I needed to actually use it after leaving someone's house I hadn't been to in a while, because I wasn't sure which was quicker at that time.
I did get it opened quickly by voice searching "navigate home" 8/14/2013 7:16:40 PM |

Sounds like the Nexus 5 will probably be based on that LG G2 device, but have lower specs and potentially some design changes as well...but I assume it will have KLP on it right?
Assuming that's all true, I think I might prefer the (presumably) $200 LG G2 from Verizon with the higher specs and Android 4.2.2/4.3 rather than the (presumably) $300 Nexus 5 with lower specs and Android 5.

I recently put Cyanogen 10.2 ROM on my Nexus 7 (’12) and I was wondering if I should stick with the CM Kernel or should I go with the Franco Kernel I already have available (and the Franco App I have makes it handy).
Oh I was reading that a user over on XDA got one of the USB HDTV receivers and an OTG cable to work on his ’12 N7 which I thought was pretty cool. I know I could look this up, but I have very little time to do searching on XDA. Can't you plug an HDMI cable straight into the ’12 N7 to get A/V out to a TV? I have all of my controllers working and my 500GB external HD through OTG cable, but I thought I saw something about Tegra 3 supporting HD video out and now I am curious.

also I'm pretty sure if this works, it is easily possible:

Tegra 3 has native video out support (http://gigaom.com/2012/07/26/with-miracast-nvidias-tegra-3-enables-wireless-displays/), even if ASUS didn't implement it.
Have you guys ever answered a single question I have posted in the Android thread? This isn't Chit Chat you know? There are many reasons why myself and lots of others didn't get the 2nd Rev Nexus 7, deal with it.
Do you see me running around the Perpetual PC thread telling everyone who bought a 770 GTX they are idiots because the exact same card existed a year ago under a different name (680)? Stuff like that (buying a rebrand) is what you make fun of, not someone consciously choosing an older model right before a new launch to save money.

WANT ASAP
Quote : | " New Samsung 'Mega' phone nearly tablet-sized
NEW YORK (AP) — Smartphones are getting bigger as people use them more to watch movies and play games. A new one from Samsung is beyond big.
With a screen measuring 6.3 inches diagonally, the Galaxy Mega is almost as big as a 7-inch tablet computer. The difference: It makes phone calls.
Samsung says the Mega is a hybrid that combines the portability of a smartphone with the immersive experience that a tablet offers for movies, books, music and games. Phones of this size are typically referred to as phablets.
Samsung Electronics Co. is known for big phones. Its flagship Galaxy S4 is 5 inches, while the Galaxy Note 2 is 5.5 inches. Apple's iPhone 5 is 4 inches.
Samsung is also known for offering a variety of devices, with different screen sizes and prices, to target a range of consumers. Because of that, it's now the leading maker of phones. Apple, by contrast, has been releasing one model a year that targets high-end consumers. A new iPhone is expected this fall.
The Mega includes many features available in other recent Galaxy phones. That includes Multi Window, which allows multitasking in a split screen, and Easy Mode, which reduces the number of features and choices for new smartphone users.
AT&T Inc. says it will start selling the Mega on Friday for $150 with a two-year service contract. The Mega is also coming to Sprint and U.S. Cellular. Dates and prices weren't announced for those carriers. The Mega made its debut in Europe and Russia in May, but hasn't been available in the U.S. until now.
As Samsung's phones get larger, at least one of HTC Corp.'s is getting smaller. AT&T announced Monday that it will start selling a smaller version of the HTC One. Called the HTC One Mini, it will have a 4.3-inch screen, compared with 4.7 inches on the standard model. It's also lighter, at 4.3 ounces. The One is 5 ounces. The One Mini will be about $100 cheaper than its big brother. It will be available starting Friday for $100 with a two-year service agreement." |
