I knew a kid at NCSU that had the same idea to ride his bike to a party to avoid driving drunk. He definitely got a DUI on the way home.


And for that matter, I knew another kid that was walking, came upon a DUI check point, tripped, and stumbled into the police sign. He got ticketed for interfering with police or something crazy like that.

I mean I've heard that all over the place...so I figured I would check out what the law is.

And if you think about it, I mean they can't really take your license for riding a bike while drunk, because you don't have to have a license for riding a bike drunk.

I'm looking for the actual definition of a DWI though, I know if you are on a scooter you can get one, but I think the reasoning for that is because it is a motored vehicle, just like people on golf carts, and lawn mowers can get one.

The handbook said that is is recomended that you don't ride your bike drunk, but it's not considered a vehicle.

Okay upon further googling it appears many people have gotten a DWI on a bike.

So here is my question. Why does the NC bike and pedestrian handbook say it's not a vehicle and isn't considered one in this instance?

Also, can they take your license for riding a bike drunk?

Also, what do they do to people who don't have a license and ride a bike drunk?

Also, is it considered a DWI if I'm not on the road?

No, I looked up the laws and shit. Instead of just assuming that I'd be fine. sawahash before being a grown up would have gotten a DWI on her bike and gotten on here pissed and then realized she was wrong and then stomp away and pout in a corner.

sawahash now finds out the laws, before the dwi, and is now looking for loopholes so she won't get the dwi.



But honestly, if worse comes to worse, every bar I go to around here is withing walking distance to some place that I can crash. I have friends, parents, and my house withing walking distances to bars.
