So do you guys with long hair have a spot at the nape of your neck that is always a terrible knot and so therefore is horribly damaged? What do you do for this ? Even my leave in conditioner doesn't work.

Also I have fine hair and it gets so knotted after the shower no matter how much conditioner I have hence the leave in. Any tips for thus shit? I have a sensitive scalp and it sucks ripping hair out.

i get the nape of the neck tangle and the only thing i have found that works is pretty obvious... runs your fingers or a brush through that part of your hair throughout the day to make sure you get the tangles out early

get your hair trimmed more frequently!

a lot of times tangles and knots are because of damage/split ends. i have this problem, too. and they say get your hair cut every 4-8 weeks or whatever, so i try to do it on the shorter side of that (though it doesn't always happen).

i also use a wide toothed comb in the shower to comb conditioner through my hair. it helps.

if you heat style your hair, use a product to protect your hair specifically made for that. it helps with the damage and thus helps reduce tangles/knots. i use revlon smooth down heat glide.

if you do a low ponytail frequently you could be damaging your hair there. try making it higher on your head or making buns for a few weeks and see if it improves. otherwise try to protect it from rubbing on your shirt collar and jewelry

The "nape-knot" is a big part of why I want to chop my hair off. It's rough when you have a good 10-12 inches of hair stuck in a mess there, and nothing gets it out but wetting it and combing for 20 minutes.

And if you have curly hair, you can't comb the knot out when it first gets started (unless you want uber-frizz). I've resorted to basically never wearing my hair down to avoid this . If anybody comes up with a solution, I'd love to know it too.

Or try a hairstyle that's less damaging to your hair, like a braid. Or use spin pins.

The first time I successfully used spin pins was on our snowboarding trip just before Christmas. Those things don't work too well on their own with my hair, but under a cap or helmet, they do well

They do much less damage to my hair than any ponytail holder or clips would though.

when i ski or cycle i definitely french braid my hair

it keeps it from tangling and its also handy because while wearing a helmet the low pony tail is the only other option

Burning cash on shoes is against my nature.

I might get some cheap semi-used ones on ebay. I can not wear vinyl, it has to be leather boots. but I don't want to pay $60+ for boots I'm just going to scuff up in the lab that are only slightly above my ankle. I also want some with a little heel, but no stiletto.

I need to try spin pins. I rarely wear low ponytails, always high or down. Might do the french braid thing.

It's so damage it feels rough, like barbie doll hair after it's been through the wash lol. And my hair is naturally curly so that doesn't help. I almost want to cut that chunk out but I'm afraid it'll be noticeable lol

nooo when you braid someone else's you are looking at it from the top of their head (usually) when you try to braid your own it is like, backwards or upside down or something. like whenever i've done it myself i end up with the inside out french braid. which i know just means i'm crossing it wrong but i don't know. french braiding my own hair is hard. lol.

They wouldn't (or shouldn't) ever fit beneath a helmet. The idea is make a super low bun on the nape of your neck, and the helmet forces the top of the bun down to help keep it in place, while the pins keep it in on the sides. If you've ever held the pins, it's fairly clear they would not impede the safety provided by the helmet or cause any harm otherwise.

I can get the spin pins to work but the ends stick out of the bun so I dont think it looks that good. I dont think of myself of having thin hair- but if i do the bun any less tight it doesnt hold up.

That is how I do mine, but I have the issue of the ends of the pins sticking out too. I think it's just a matter of not having enough hair to make a thick enough bun to hide the whole pins. I don't really care though and use them anyway.

Okay, well I've decided I should probably shave my legs again. It's been a while since the last time, the things I love about winter, but now it's getting on my nerves.

Waxing!

It's expensive, but I think it's worth it.

I got everything from my eyebrows down waxed but then the boyfriend and I broke up so no one has been around to comment on how soft I am but I enjoy it!

I don't think I could wax my legs. I wax my eyebrows, but that is just way too much pain for me to put on my legs.

I hate shaving so much. I also end up missing spots, and when I go as long as I've gone between shaves it takes forever. Maybe I'll get some cream and get the majority of it off and then shave...I need some new razors anyway, but they are so damn expensive.

Man I wish it was the dudes that had to shave their legs and hairly legs on a chick was sexy...not the other way around.

your hair has to be pretty long for them to wax but i guess it lasts a little longer than shaving. i don't really know specifically though i've never had that done. i shave every couple days though so it's pretty quick and i don't miss spots. just take the 5 extra minutes to do it every day. it's worth it and you'll feel better

^^ you would actually be surprised if you waxed your legs. The skin on your face is considerably more sensitive than that on your legs, and if you just stick to waxing from the knee down, and shave your thighs, it might be worth it - and completely manageable when it comes to pain.

I know not all women are like this, but I don't get much hair on my thighs at all, and waxing from the knee down keeps me essentially fuzz-free for a couples weeks at least. And if I'm strapped for cash, I can just shave a little as needed to extend the amount of time between waxing. It's not for everyone, but I totally recommend giving it a shot if you can.

I guess for right now I'll just stick with an electric razor, it doesn't take as long to shave. While it might not be the smoothest shave since it is the winter a little stubble won't hurt anyone.
