can you feel the excitement

how the hell is Duke ahead of UNC and State? That is unreal. That's like Vandy beating out UT, or GT besting UGA
2/4/2016 12:42:25 PM
^Eeeh, that's a little different. UT and UGA are consistently top 15-20 recruiting teams, so that would be like Vandy throwing up a top 5 class(super unlikely). Duke has had more success than both UNC and NC State in football the last 4-5 years, they have established coaches, they trump both in academics, and Cut seems like a really good guy. Duke beating NC State doesn't shock me, and UNC missed on some of their top guys late and had a couple of defections. Based on UNC's year though, would have expected they'd have been higher, but I do expect UNC to beat both NC State and Duke next year in recruiting based on this year's, and likely next year's, success.
2/4/2016 12:46:07 PM
How come UT didn't get a top 10 class? I thought they were pulling in 5 stars left and right?
2/4/2016 2:44:03 PM
^uh, i mean maybe not top 10, but #11 is pretttyy close: http://www.burntorangenation.com/2016/2/3/10862104/texas-longhorns-recruiting-rank-2016

did hoops just have one of the funniest troll posts without even realizing it?
2/4/2016 4:40:38 PM
Its not mathematically sustainable to improve your recruiting class each year. At some point the guys you recruited have to play and recruiting has to dropoff.
2/4/2016 4:46:44 PM
Recruiting NC in 2017 is going to be rough
2/4/2016 5:03:16 PM
^really good players going elsewhere or not top level talent in the state?
2/4/2016 5:18:10 PM
[Edited on February 4, 2016 at 5:37 PM. Reason : But seriously, does anybody think of tenn when they see UT? ]
2/4/2016 5:32:14 PM
The top 15 NC prospects went out of state. With those programs building better relationships with coaches and players it gets tougher. There are also fewer high end prospects this coming year (at least at this point) so it will be ultra-competitive.
2/4/2016 5:59:03 PM
^^ of course they do, they've been around longer. Everyone says Texas.

we're at a point now where we have young players who will be playing the next year and also have uncertainty about who the coach will be 2 or 3 years from now. I wouldn't commit to state right now. We've gott to have a good season so that DD can get an extension before recruiting picks back up.
2/5/2016 12:17:43 AM
we're planning for failure, but at least we're not failing to plan

not a great start to 2017 recruiting. Of the 4 NC prospects in the Rivals 250, UNC has signed 3 and the top recruit grew up a Michigan fan (and is being recruited by them)
2/9/2016 1:48:45 PM
2/9/2016 2:20:40 PM
unless there is some super early signing period that started with next year's class, pretty sure that UNC has signed zero 2017 recruits. at this point, every committed recruit won't necessarily sign with that same school.
2/9/2016 2:28:27 PM
Fuck, you know what i mean, received verbals from. There is Bullet with the same attitude that leads to having a borderline bowl eligible team year after year. Just saying UNC is moving fast this year. Our "relationships" that we built within the state must not be that strong. [Edited on February 9, 2016 at 3:29 PM. Reason : M]
2/9/2016 3:27:55 PM
Yeah man, it's my fault. If only I could be more pessimistic about my favorite sports team, then we'd be in business!!!1
2/9/2016 3:30:45 PM
dammit bullet it's all your fault.
2/9/2016 3:33:27 PM
I enjoy the recruiting side almost as much as the games. Just sad when we have pretty much nothing going on.
2/9/2016 3:34:41 PM
2/9/2016 3:39:27 PM
Something is wrong with you if you enjoy the pampering and ass-kissing of 15-17 year old high school athletes more than the actual playing of the game.
2/9/2016 3:53:14 PM
if you didn't expect Carolina to be outrecruiting us at this point based on their success last season, I'm not sure what to tell you
2/9/2016 4:01:33 PM
^Not only their recent success. They have about every advantage over us with the only exception being that we pack the stadium better.
2/9/2016 4:26:42 PM
2/9/2016 4:38:17 PM
I hear you man. I'm interested in recruiting too, it was the main reason I started following Sports Talk. But I learned long ago not to analyze it too much, it's just kids.
2/9/2016 4:56:25 PM
Not just kids, but kids with no real guidance in their lives. Most of these kids have one parent or no parents. Even when they have one, its not a very good one. Why do you expect a 17 year old with no real guidance to make sound decisions? Also, last year at this time we had a commitment from a 4* cornerback out of South Carolina that everyone was happy about. He ended up barely being rated in the Top 100 at his position and dropped to a 3* and basically forgotten about. Long way to go til signing day.
2/9/2016 5:17:57 PM
well that was an ignorant generalization

60% of the time there are family issues 80% of the when there are only 50% of the parental units living in an area that is 30% under the medium wage income which includes the 20% of the population living in areas that are 75% minority.

2/10/2016 2:12:19 PM
Yeah, there isn't that kind of attitude at any of the South Eastern Conference Schools.
