Meet the Heels cancelled due to Irene.

I thought it was kinda funny that they used a pic of Austin and Quinn from last year.

Because every agent that represents someone that signed a 91.5 million dollar deal needs a summer gig making $1000 a week.

LOL at UNC hiring a sports agent who is representing their former players to teach a class. This dude, Nyang'oro, must be working for Duke or State or something. No one is this dumb.

LOL too that the same agent is now suing Robert Quinn.

Nyang'oro pic would make a good meme

Might not be in the rule book.....but underclassmen (freshman/sophs) mingling with agents I believe is a violation. And having one TEACH on your campus where you will find these very same young athletes?? And yea, this guy is making what, 5% of Peppers contract, which is what, over half a mil alone off Peppers (assuming peppers makes 10 mil)? And he's teaching a class all summer for 5 grand? uh????? Surely he's not using his time on campus to get close to guys like Sturdivant, Carter, and Quinn?? Wait, at one point he represented all 3 of them? Hmm, that looks really good.

The NCAA will be thrilled to see this guys hiring made it through every red flag in Cheater Hill.

to be fair, it's not like this is some random agent with no educational experience teaching a class. dude actually has a PhD and was a teacher of some sort before he became an agent. The article also suggests that he was affiliated with Colonel Swahili before he left the university. It still looks bad on the surface, yes, but not as bad as we might like it to look.

Yeah I got the impression from everything I've read that this guys is more or less on the up and up, but there's no way he should have been involved not necessarily because of any improprieties on his side but because the departments at UNC can't be doing something so stupid as putting an agent in charge of a class.

Dee was the COI chair while much of the UM investigation was going down, the UNC investigation was going down and the entire USC investigation.

And the COI DOES WRITE THE NOA!!!!!!!!!

And Paul DEE HIRED BUTCH DAVIS.

And Davis likes the sport of track.

Good day.

"UNC prof linked to football investigation resigns position

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Prof. Julius Nyang'oro, chairman of the University of North Carolina Department of African and Afro-American Studies, resigned that position Thursday. It was an assignment for Nyang'oro's class that brought to light apparent plagiarism by Michael McAdoo, a former member of the UNC football team.

McAdoo, who was ruled permanently ineligible in 2010 by the NCAA in the course of an investigation of players receiving impermissible benefits, filed suit in July to force the university to let him back on the field in 2011. McAdoo's lawyer, Noah Hoffstetler, argued that the NCAA violated its own procedures in ruling McAdoo ineligible. He further argued that the NCAA's decision was based on information that was factually wrong and never gave McAdoo a fair chance. In support of his case, Hoffstetler provided to the court a paper written by McAdoo for Nyang'oro's class which, when compared against common plagiarism tracking tools on the internet, showed large portions of the text which appeared to have been copied from other sources.

The UNC student Honor Court found that McAdoo had improper help from a tutor with the works cited, but overlooked any irregularities in the body of the paper.

After a hearing in McAdoo's case, Chancellor Holden Thorp asked for a faculty-led review of the Honor Court.

In a statement Thursday, he said, "Because academic integrity is paramount, we have every obligation to get to the bottom of these issues. This process has been difficult, and we’ve been through a lot this past year, but the only right thing to do is to pursue the facts and fix the problems.”

Thorp cited the same academic integrity in firing head football coach Butch Davis on July 27 after more than a year of NCAA scrutiny of the program. "I have lost confidence in our ability to come through this without harming the way people think of this institution. Our academic integrity is paramount, and we must work diligently to protect it. The only way to move forward and put this behind us is to make a change,” Thorp said that day.

In Thursday's announcement, Thorp said, "The university has been reviewing academic issues related to some courses in our Department of African and Afro-American Studies. The questions that we have concern possible irregularities with courses that included undergraduate students."

Nyang'oro's students included one of McAdoo's teammates, Marvin Austin, whom he taught as a freshman, according to a transcript published by The News & Observer. Austin earned a B+ in the 400-level class in African-American studies despite SAT scores that indicated he was a poor reader, The News & Observer reported. Nyang'oro would have had to give his consent to allow Austin into the class.

Thorp said the university would continue "to review the facts to determine whether there have been any violations of university policy and to determine what additional actions are necessary."

Professor Evelyne Huber will serve as interim chair of the Department of African and Afro-American Studies."

^I just skimmed the GOLO comments on WRAL's story. Mostly the standard Butch was unjustly fired and they should let Thorp go... because apparently the chancellor has more direct oversight over the football team than the actual coach or something like that.
