"Harrow also didn't shy away from having big expectations for State this year, in fact the incoming freshman says all the tools are there, now it is up to the players to make this a top level team. "If we keep out heads straight and we all go for the same goal I don't see why we couldn't. Off of talent I feel we have one of the best teams. Now teams may beat us off of maturity, but off of talent I feel like we can be on of the best teams and if we work hard and listen to the coaches we'll be pretty good," Harrow said.

C.J. Leslie might have said it best about what his impact will be at State, "I did not come here to lose."

The expectations will be high, but it seems that this class is looking forward to set the bar even higher."

i think WRAL put this link in the wrong folder it says /Hurricanes, so they may move it

He's already said he's coming back so I'm pretty sure this all just to get NBA guys to tell him on what he needs to work on (jumpshot?).

Just testing the waters. I'd say there is an 80% chance of him staying.

You get the freebee. It doesn't make sense for any player planning on playing pro not to take it.

he just wants to know what he needs to work on to get drafted next year. at this point i don't think he'd be drafted b/c of his size and how he plays...he needs to get a jumpshot

not to mention Tracy's facebook quote from earlier in the thread:

Quote :
" Tracy Smith : Tracy Smith and CJ Leslie....we finally got him. Damn bout time fool!!!"

he specifically said he was coming back. but of course he's going to test the waters. you get one freebee. he hopes to play nba after next season, so he's getting some feedback.

Shit, my exams are Wednesday not Tuesday.

Still I heard Sammy's would be where he'd have it and to be honest I was hoping it'd be somewhere bigger, it was pretty much packed for Harrow's and I'm sure there would be more people there now that Leslie finally committed.

But I remember this interview Smith did, right after we lost in the NIT where he said, "Next year will be my last chance to make it to the NCAA, and I want to experience what that's like atleast once before I leave here".

Maybe he's just seeing what his draft stock potential is, so he knows what to focus on for his senior season.

"Yeah, I know Wood is a player already on the squad, I had like a 4 hour thinking lapse after the release of the news yesterday"....still cant fucking believe that we FINALLY will have a squad to challenge the dookies and tarholes of the world..yes yesterday was a GREAT DAY!

It's funny how some Carolina fans think that CJ coming will be just like JJ Hickson's year. CJ has been around the guys and program for around 4 years now. I'm pretty sure he's got chemistry with these guys by now. Pretty much everyone on the team wanted these guys to come. Smith even said so. Smith has already said he's coming back no matter what, and this is just him getting the info about his game that he needs to work on. Smith going to the NBA evaluations will only help us be a better team next year.

Yea ^^. I'm not coming in with NCAA champ expectations or even ACC champ expectations, but I think we can be a relevant competitive team next year. This is a very different situation from Hickson. As much fun as all of this is to think about, the few Kentucky fans and obviously the carolina fans I know have all tried to put a damper on it. Bringing up Hickson, chalking it up to "shady" or "slimy" recruiting tactics, saying we'll be .500 next year regardless because of in-game coaching.

Whatever. I'm excited; we have a very talented class coming in who are also all very excited about playing for State and Sidney. More importantly, we have a class of talent coming in who seem very excited to play *together* and not just run around like one-man superstars. Its going to take a lot of hard work and good coaching, but we finally have the ingredients at least available to us to do something very good. What this translates to on the court and on our win-loss stats? who knows, but i'm looking forward to it.

What's going to be fun about next year's team is that the foundation is already set with the other guys. Smith is an ACC POY candidate, Javi is the most experience player on the team, and CJW started showing flashes of brilliance at the end of last year. Couple that with the 5 freshmen we had this year who work and play hard all the time and we've got a seriously hungry and talented team.

hodge's audio clip got me thinking, would you rate this class higher than his? RIGHT NOW, i think with mabry this class is better but right now it may be a wash (of course factoring in 5 recruits>3 recruits)

note about Smith declaring:

This year the deadline for people to declare or withdraw their names is May 8th. So Smith will have to decide one way or another in less than 2 weeks.

In previous years, players had until sometime in June to decide, so at least we'll know something certain within the next week and a half, although I'm pretty sure he will be coming back.

His numbers should actually go down, but its a good thing, because he isn't having to take the team on his back every game. He'll be a better player, but won't put up as many points.

Smith isn't going anywhere...this shouldn't be worried about at all. It was known weeks ago he would do this with no intention of actually leaving(unless he's a lottery or something...which we know he won't)

haha those espn idiots edited their article and pulled out the part about CJ being a lock for UK.

The last section of the Leslie blurb went from:
Quote :
"
We're hearing that he's a lock to Kentucky. Wildcats head coach John Calipari made quite an impression on Leslie when he came to his house on the first day of the April contact period.

Leslie to Kentucky is imminent. Just don't expect to hear about it anytime soon."

to:
Quote :
"We're heard last week he was a "lock" to Kentucky, but Leslie told The Raleigh News & Observer on Wednesday he'll stay close to home and attend N.C. State.

So much for being last. "

so not only were they wrong about 1) his decision and 2) when he was going to announce, they straight edited the article without any mention on the page anywhere about the edit. Judging from the "we're heard..." part, it looks like a quick editing job too. what did they think no one would notice?

SG: 5*Brown/3*Williams

That's a young, but very talented lineup."

Looks good to me, but I would argue that Wood is too dangerous offensively to keep on the bench. I'd bump Leslie down to the starting 4, and start Wood at the 3. I know Howell played alongside Smith some towards the end of the season to relieve Horner, but I still wouldn't start him yet. Have Howell come in to relieve Smith/Leslie. Rotate Painter in if Howell starts being a dumbass and jacks up some 3s.
