With regards to removing the sim and tricking it. I just went to (and still am in Ireland) and we rooted my wife's Galaxy S3, dropped a new SIM in and it worked pretty well. Follow one of the many videos on youtube or what not about doing it. Took me maybe 30 minutes in total. 12/1/2013 12:18:18 PM |

This is not an Android phone, but it not bad especially for the price if you are strapped for cash and is in need of a phone to activate with Straight Talk.

Anyone else have the stupid/annoying auto-play for user-upload videos while viewing facebook on their phones?
Apparently it wasn't rolled out to everyone. It auto-plays when a video scrolls on to my screen. Extremely annoying to me, even if it doesn't have sound. 12/6/2013 9:05:51 PM |

I would caution anyone updating to 4.3 on any Galaxy devices who have a root. It appears to break wifi. Here's how to fix it:

I'm probably going to try the latest Cyrogenmod but if you want to keep stock that's how to fix your wifi. 12/26/2013 11:41:02 AM |

So I've been using the Hangouts app on my N5 and it works ok for me.
Being that iPhones can send SMS messages from their computer, is there any talk of Android users being able to do the same? Currently on a computer I can only send messages to gmail associated hangouts, not SMS hangouts. 1/8/2014 3:27:21 PM |

You install the Mighty text app on your phone, then install the add-in to Chrome on your computer. You can switch from texting on your phone to your pc seamlessly. You still use your stock messaging app-Mighty text runs in the background.

Is there a reason Google makes you use such a roundabout way of sending SMS from a desktop or use a separate app? even other crappy/free things like yahoo messenger let you sync a phone number to an account and send SMS from a computer. Mighty is a cool app, I just always wondered why Google doesn't make it easier straight from gmail/old gchat

Has anyone had issues plugging their Android phones into a windows computer?
I usually have no issue, but on one W7 laptop I get "Device Driver Software Was Not Correctly Installed" when I plug my N5 into it...I've downloaded Android's USB drivers but when I try to install it I get "Windows could not find driver software for your device" when I point the GUI thing right at the downloaded folder (or any subfolder under it).
Any ideas? 1/21/2014 8:25:18 PM |

I wish the GV/hangouts integration would come fast. The current app is terrible and I can't make calls via Internet. If that came out, I would barely need any minutes in my cell plan. 1/28/2014 8:50:31 PM |

i am kinda worried about the future of android now that motorola has been sold and with the rumors that the nexus line will be killed off.
all of this comes right after the cross patent licensing deal with samsung. i hope samsung didnt get the much better end of that deal and become even more powerful within the world of android. 1/29/2014 7:06:19 PM |

basically this is what happened in that google/samsung deal:
google agreed to get out of the hardware business - sell motorola and kill off the nexus program
samsung agreed to get out of the software business - stop development of tizen, stop competing directly with core google apps, and abandon their own app store in favor of google play. 1/29/2014 9:35:34 PM |

Not necessarily... Possibly just death of competing apps, like Samsung's calendar, mail, etc.

But its divergent of google's ecosystem. The store and the apps have to go... At least them being preloaded. That's not to say Samsung can't offer the application in the play store. 1/29/2014 11:09:38 PM |
