i didn't start watching it till about a month ago. what happened in the season finale and why is clark all pissed off now (at least he appears to finally be getting some from lana )

Well in leading up the last episode clark goes thru this whole ordeal with not being able to do anything but hurt the people he loves. So some stuff goes down and he blows up like half of the barn and puts one of his parents in the hospital (his mother if i remember correctly, she also looses the baby). Clarks father gets pissed, clark goes to the school finds one of the red kryptonite rings. He puts it one becomes evil clark and leaves Lana on his way toward Metropolis. So yeah he was finally gettin' some lovin from Lana and he screwed the whole thing up! Kinda pisses me off, but on October 1st at 8 I will be glued to the TV.

^ Yeah the complete 1st season of Smallville comes out on the 23rd of this month. It is suppose to be "full" of "super" cool extras, but they say that about like every dvd set. But it is something that I look forward to. I am even more excited cause it comes out before the season premire and soon than I thought.

Not that this thread is accomplishing much anymore, but they didn't take any liberties with the comic book. DC has a habit of revising/tearing down and starting over with the history of their universe on a 7-10 year basis now. In the original 1st edition run of Superman (Superboy actually since it was about Clark in Smallville), he and Lex Luthor were best friends (although Lex was the mad scientist type, as opposed to the ruthless business man now), they became enemies when there was a fight in Lex's lab involving Superboy and it some stuff exploded and made Lex bald.

There was also a Lana Lang, although she was a blonde, she was the object of Clark's desire although I dont believe they ever did manage to date or anything.

Clark also had a friend named Pete who knew his secret identity in the comic book, although he was white and blonde

So, the show doesn't follow the version of the history that DC is using at the moment after their latest rewrite, but it is fairly accurate based upon the very first original history of Superman as a child in Smallville that was presented in the Superboy comics.

The floating thing was at the beginning of the pilot episode, so they might have decided not to write it in yet... they might want to stretch out his "development" over the course of the series, to keep interest.

I could be mistaken but I am sure he can do the cold breath thing. I know he has heat vision which i think is funny how they tied that in with his "emotions". What kinda sux is that he learned to control them a lot sooner than I hoped he would. I would have enjoyed seeing him around Lana and roasting things cause "he couldn't help himself".

All characters on gilmore girls talk in the same, fake rhythm of speech. it annoys me. The script writers need to write as if the characters actually are different and have different personalities and styles of talking.

I've watched the show some (I read comics when I was little so I tend to check out comic-book movies or tv shows just to see if they are any good). Other than the girls being hot, it tends to be very formulaic (yeah, I know all TV shows are, in my opinion they don't do it as well as others). They always do the monster of the week thing, and not nearly as well as other shows have. And they've done the whole "someone good going bad" episode a half a dozen times. I'm not saying I hate the show, I just stopped watching because of that.

Clark has come close to flying many times (jumping long distances, high up in the air) and such. The producers said clark would probably learn to fly in one of the last episodes. No time soon though.

I remember that near the beginning of the episode, Martha Kent was saying to Jonathan about "we don't know how red kryptonite affects him." Huh? Did I miss something? When the hell did we start calling it kryptonite? Shouldn't she have said "red meteor rocks" or something? But other than that small inconsistency, I liked last night's episode.
