actually, since the movies aren't hosted on tww, it doesn't affect their bandwidth. although i'm sure the owners of the sites where the movies are hosted would certainly appreciate that.

I actually like the thumbnail idea, so threads with lots of pictures won't take 7 x 10^4 years to load. I would also support the banning of embedded movies.

Of course, I probably ought to go premium too. Since right now I really have no right to an opinion since I'm not paying for anything.

so now what I see happening is chit chat becoming even more of a shithole for worthless threads. Since people can link to the site still just not straight to pictures you will have millions of threads dedicated to posting a picture and then sending the link to the ENTIRE thread to their friends. So now instead of people taking the bandwidth for just the picture, they will take the bandwidth of the picture along with EVERYTHING else in the thread.

I may be a crazy old man here, but the reason I go premium is because I feel I should reimburse Jake for all the time I spend on this website. This took a lot of hard work and effort to create, and I use it frequently for all sorts of stuff. It's nothing for me to spend $2.08 per month to show my gratitude to the creators of this site for a job well done, and to thank them for an opportunity to have met so many great people across NC State that I normally would not have had the opportunity to have met. I don't really use the premium features, but I do feel like I have some sort of obligation to pay these people back for all the bandwith I have taken over the last 4+ years.

Sad we can't have full-sized pictures anymore, but hey, maybe if you people wouldn't be such cheap bastards and stop leeching off Jake's website maybe we can go back to full-sized pictures again. Sadly, I don't see this happening any time soon.

the only reason i've stayed premium for so long is because i've been able to use the photo gallery to my liking...

that is, apparently, no longer the case...

^^ it's not that i don't feel like it's fair to pay that much for the use i've gotten out of the site over the years, but certain things were promised when originally signing up for a premium subscription, that included a photo gallery that we were able to link remotely to (since no features had been changed)... also, the manner in which i found out about this change in policy is particularly disturbing. Usually when a business changes it's policies it informs those who would be directly affected by that policy change, this was not done here, i had to find out from a thread in Chit Chat, and that is simply not a proper way to run a business. It's no wonder this site loses so much money...

and because of all that, byebye premium subscription

There could have at least been a story on the front page or something. I mean all you people that are on the let's support Jake/Joe bandwagon...how have they fostered that relationship in return?

At this point, premium members should be treated as exactly that and at least deserve to know what's going on, or not going on as the case often is, with the site as investors in it. It's really about them more than any other user or non-member on this site. Because of the way that's handled, I'm not a premie anymore and won't be.

That's the way I see it.

Tell that to the hotlinking lurkers who contribute nothing to this site.

Notification of a site change would have been the proper thing to do, whether or not people are premium members.

People who have paid for the membership, and used the pic hosting for their business and/or ebay auctions got screwed.

the only reason i'm a premie os so i can have abunch of pics in my photo gallery and being able to hotlink those pics is a must. if things don't change and i can't hotlink i'll cancel my premie subscription. hopefully premies will be able to hotlink soon!!
