Proving once again that Pitchfork is absolute shit. 8/31/2005 4:25:41 PM |

I think the album is pretty damn good. it's a more cohesive album than electric version and I don't have mass romantic so I can't comment on that one. 8/31/2005 4:32:06 PM |

too indie for the fork!
if somebody tells me a site that has more frequent and reliable news and reviews music that i give a shit about, i would definately check it out
pitchfork has nutted over everything ac newman has done
personally i think the order is
1)mass romantic 2)twin cinema 3)electric version
but i blow loads over all 39/17/2005 1:08:16 AM |

that was ok, but i think "Use It" is one of the weaker songs on the album.
i really dig Zumpano, Carl's earlier band. been spinnign them a lot lately. 9/17/2005 1:33:07 AM |

i saw ac newman this summer at intonation and it was just ok...i loved being able to see him but the music didnt translate great live
thought the same thing tonite, still looking forward to seeing them in a month 9/17/2005 1:39:00 AM |

I've been listening to this a lot lately, and I found it to be much better when I dropped my expectation that a NP album is all about seventeen million hooks per second. It's more of a harmony-hook record.
It's still my least favorite of the three, though. 9/18/2005 12:29:37 PM |

still good in my book. been listening to mass romantic alot lately though and it's pretty solid. AC Newman knows how to write a pop song, that's for sure. 9/19/2005 9:06:09 AM |

though i really dont think their songs translate that great live
at least from what ive heard of the new pornographers live, and what ive seen from ac newman live
but i dont care, i still cant wait, and i get to see the decemberists the night before (both walking distance) and am going to south bend for the ND game the next day!! 10/4/2005 7:40:22 PM |

I was just thinking to myself, if they were to pull out any covers, who would they possibly cover? I'm not really familiar with any of their influences. 10/15/2005 11:41:22 PM |

I know they've done "Graceland," "Cruel to be Kind," and a bunch of Heart covers. 10/15/2005 11:49:27 PM |

I saw someone with a binaural mic in their pocket, so keep your eyes open online.
Bejar was indeed damn good live. His bows after every song were ridiculous.
The dragged a little on "The Laws Have Changed." No big deal, but it tears the roof off when they push it. 10/17/2005 3:36:45 AM |

They (pornographers) were awesome!
but im sorry - that destroyer guy sucked. His band's music wasn't all that bad ,but his voice sounds like a creaky door with rusted hinges.
Some of the worst vocal lines/melodies I've heard in a while -- it had no structure. Everytime he got up there to sing with the pornographers -- I went to get a beer, he threw it off. 10/18/2005 1:10:23 PM |

dude was drunk. I loved how he chugged his beer between lines 10/18/2005 1:11:25 PM |

yeah i know but even sober and on the record he sounds like that. I went to see Spoon at the Merge lineup about a year ago, and Destroyer played and he sounded the same. #@$@# terrible.

They're doing two dates in London in the start of November and then coming back to the States for one show in Seattle on the 19th before heading to Germany, I wouldn't be surprised if they rescheduled Madison and Minneapolis in that window. 10/22/2005 12:46:20 AM |
