I got the first Serenity comic from Foundaitons Edges, but I've been getting a run-around trying to get a copy of #2. They don't have it, then they'll get some, then they've got some but they're on hold, etc.

I had a girl walk into a comic shop for me today and not only was she able to buy #2 and #3, but she got a free pass to get 2 people into a screening of Serenity later this month.

^^^capital comics messed up their order for the kaylee cover of #2. now they have some and they're charging $4 for it. I thought that was a nice "fuck you" to their customers.
I ended up getting it online for $7 shipped, and I'd rather have paid that than $4 to someone artificially increasing their own prices.

^^#3 technically came out on the 7th. different places have beeen saying it drops on the 8th or 9th because labor day pushed back the shipping or somesuch

While I don't think $3.99 is a bad price due to the scarcity, I certainly wouldn't advertise to customers that you're running a 50% profit margin!

Some more details would be nice. Audio/Visual set up, what episodes will be played when, what times any other activities are, what kind of seating there will be, all that stuff.

32" lcd HD tv with firefly dvd's, food, drink, possibly pizza. people should either bring their own food/drink or bring a few bucks though. possibly digital 5.1 surround, if the receiver is working properly.

Seating is kinda bleh but reasonable for about 16 people. we could try to get some more seating if too many people show up. it's pretty much people sitting around eating junk food and watching firefly and getting some free stuff.

OMG AWESOME! (I'll keep it spoiler free)

I was totally blown away by the movie. It had wonderful scope, allowed for good character development, and was host to quite a few universe-changing events. I'm not sure if it would have been as good had I not watched the series beforehand, but my guest who had only seen the pilot still enjoyed it very much.

They introduced a few new characters that I really would have liked to see more of (people that I'm sure would have played a larger part had Firefly continued as a series rather than in movies, most notably "Mr Universe"). The movie was fast paced, and never left me bored, though I wonder if it would be almost too fast for someone who wasn't already in the know. I specifically point out that Shepard Book got almost no introduction, and people might not have realized that he and Mal have the history that they do.

If anyone else has specific questions, just ask. If you want spoilers, you gotta PM me. I'm not gunna ruin it for everyone else. I'll probably see it again this weekend.

Sat down and watched a few of the episodes on SciFi yesterday (they had some all day marathon on). All I've gotta say is wow. Very very impressed. Can't wait to see the movie.

if you like the series you'll love the movie. if you hated the series, you may still appreciate the movie but either try a few episodes of the series again or wait for the movie to come out on dvd. if you haven't seen the series at all, you'll probably like it (as almost everyone who sits down and watches at least 3 episodes falls in love with it) so you should watch it and then see the movie if you can.

lack of knowledge about the series won't cause you to not understand the movie, but you won't care about the characters as much as you should.
