so far season 2 just screams chaos. anyone else notice the drops of blood that fell in slow motion on the floor of the ship at the begining and end of the episode? I wander what that is supposed to mean if anything. And she said there were 8 cylons in the fleet. I think she was saying it just to save the cheif.

Tigh's wife is not a cyclon, she's just really crooked and evil (if Paris Hilton was a BG character, that is who she would be).

If she IS a cylon, it's only because of some new aspects of cylons that they haven't talked about in the show, that are biologically identical to humans.

I can't say for sure, but it seems to be the writer questioning the things that make us human... is it our blood and guts, or our thinking and psychology?

OK, I never saw that she was tested. I guess that's one of the episodes I missed.

Anyway, I can't help but wonder why the technicians on Galactica don't use Boomer's "corpse" to try to figure out better ways to identify Cylons. Or better yet, disable them. Hmmm...

OK, after having seen this episode twice now, I am still finding it hard to believe that there are as many survivors as there are on Caprica. Seems to me that the Cylons should be marching 24-7 all over the planet to make sure everything is wiped out.

Another thing which is bugging me is that I want to have a clearer understanding of the differences between humans and the "human Cylons." Has that been explained yet? I mean, the Cylons are trying to have children now? WTF? To what extent are they biological and to what extent are they mechanical?

The whole Cylon/children thing has not been explained, nor has the difference between the human-cylons and humans.

To me, it seems likely to be a theme of the show to question at what point does a machine stop being a "toaster" and being life? It would not surprise me if the answer was not explicitly answered for a while.

Well they did destroy 12 or so worlds and I doubt they would have the machine power to comb them all with any detail.

I suppose that's true, but I'd still believe that they can operate for extremely long periods of time without need for maintenance and could thus cover a huge amount of ground in a short period of time. Which leads me to another question! I seem to recall the initial attack was a heavy nuclear bombardment. Why don't the Cylons just keep on pasting the countryside until they are certain everyone is dead? I know, I know, ulterior motives what with the attempts to have children and all. I'm just overanalyzing now.

Thus the blood on the deck shots from a human and a cylon in last week's episode, Adama's soliloquy to the chief about the humanity of Galactica-Boomer, and Helo's decision to carry on a relationship with Caprica-Boomer. Plus the whole "Baltar see Number 6 everywhere" thing.

One of the major theories I've heard is that once the survivors find Earth, the Cylons make peace with them and they begin to cross-breed.

Well as far as pasting the entire country side, or "glassing" from the Halo books, I beleive that the amount of radiation generated needed to be kept to a minimum so that they could actually operate on the occupied worlds.

^ they are also probably planning on colonizing them with the human/cylon hybrids.

i think the reason they haven't bothered with wiping out every human is that they really just aren't important. they wiped out the whole colonial fleet minus galactica and pegasus. the minor resistance movement doesn't mean shit since they will eventually die off from either radiation or lack of food/supplies, simple old age (by this i mean that the machines are probable just willing to wait it out, not like they are probably in a hurry)

Y'know, with 1/3 of the fleet departing, it sets things up real nicely for a civil war. Since they've returned to Caprica, it's a perfect opportunity for the Pegasus to come to their rescue. Roslin and her fleet will side with the Pegasus, and Adama will have to try to keep what's left of his fleet together. And if Cain is true to character, he (or in this case, she) will want command over it all. I wonder if it'll play out this way?

They did indeed test her and Baltar told them that she was human but when he has the conversation with Number 5 in his head she says "They don't realize everyone passes these days" and asks him if she really passed and Baltar says he'll never tell. So actually we're not sure whether she is or not. I do however agree with whoever said she's not a cylon, just a power hungry evil woman.

I don't remember the details, but I do remember that something in the context of that scene/episode made it seem like she did genuinely pass.

Plus, the scientist guy with the robot chick in his head, so far, hasn't done anything to really compromise the humans, and he genuinely reported when that other person was a cylon.

You can get the Producer's commentary podcast (free) here: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73329453

That's the iTunes link, but i'm sure it's available elsewhere...

It's designed to be listened to while watching the show, so if you download or Tivo the episodes, it gives you a little more concrete idea of what they mean with certain scenes. I've only watched it for the most recent episode so far.

No. iTunes is free, no strings attached (except, if you don't have Quicktime, which most people do, it installs it, but it has no adware).

Just make sure you download it from Apple's site.

In the original series, the 2-part episodes with the Pegasus were absolutely awesome. Cain was played by Lloyd Bridges, and he was extremely gung-ho to try to turn the tables and run a two-Battlestar offensive against the Cylons. He even deposed Adama and assumed command of the entire fleet for a short time. No joke, he was hardcore. The character of Cain was a brilliant tactician, but also a loose cannon. If you've ever seen Macross or Macross 7, Cain is a lot like Max Jenius - no matter how bad the odds look, he has the skill to find a way to pull a crazy ass victory out of utter defeat. Baltar was fucking AFRAID of Cain, and for good reason. Cain singled Baltar's Base Star out in a group of 3, and the Pegasus took out the 2 supporting Base Stars just to get to him.

Sadly, Cain's ultimate fate was never known...

It seems the way the show is turning is that the cylons/humans will become Earthlings of our past... but, if this is the case, why did all the technology die off?

With the goal of Earth made almost officially unattainable, the show loses its allure somewhat for me. I also don't think they adequately explained what the humanoid Cylons are exactly, as it seems that right now, they're just "human." I'm going to be disappointed if they end up doing boring and mundane episodes with no absolute resolutions.

I'm not sure what you mean by this...? Now that the Colonials have a "map," they have a pretty decent idea of the direction they should be heading. (Or at least more so than they have had before.)

I'm also somewhat annoyed by the lack of clarification as to what makes the human Cylons what they are. It's intentional, obviously, and I think the next few episodes with Boomer's... um... baby(?) might clear up a few things. I really have no idea where the writers are going with that line.

I am really enjoying Baltar's development, though, even though it seems like most people hate it. I laughed quite a bit in the last episode when Dr. Cottle was trying to do the MRI on him and Baltar kept screwing it up and then he yelled at him "Will you STOP goin' crazy in there?!"

What I think would be kinda neat, and different, would be to find humans on earth with technology. Now as to how advanced that technology would/should be is debatable. Could lead to fighting back the cylons and regaining the colonies. But whatever, I just want them to have more material for decent episodes

They made it clear like it was a pretty darn far ways away. Unless they pull some Star Trek Voyager-like BS to get there, I can't see them reasonably getting there, not at least in more than a few seasons, at their current rate.

they said it was pretty far away, but they've proven they have FTL capability, so who knows how long it would take? We really don't have any idea exactly how far away it is, or how far each FTL jump can be. I don't think we can say whether Earth is currently more than a road trip away or if it's practically unattainable.

A coworker and I were talking, and we came up with a variation on that theory. The Cylons are intentionally letting the Colonials lead them to Earth, so that they can wipe both Earth and the fleet out in one swift stroke, destroying the last vestiges of humanity.

It is her.

You can bet good money that the Pegasus won't be around long. Season finale, then maybe 1-2 episodes into the start of next season.

The "stealth" Viper is, sadly, quite ugly.

Couldnt make a hodgepodge scrap home project coming out looking completely badass.

Why should the pegasus only stay around a couple episodes? I mean, where would it go? It could either leave because of command issues, or it could leave to go harass the cylons. And considering she is supposed to be a brilliant commander, that could happen.

And is the Bartoc crazy or what?

Prolly just like SG-1 last night. Both paralell story lines ended in crazy "the world is gonna end" endings.

What I am curious about is, if the galactica is heading towards earth it cant be heading towards the cylons. So how will they know where they are. I mean if they jump a handfull of times semi-randomly toward there objective, why cant they just loose the cylons. But I guess there could be cylon spies on board. But how can the spies send messages to the cylons, and how did the Xena reporter get the footage of the tape made of the galactica back to cylon occupies caprica?
