Don't you live in RR? I expect to see 2-4 groups of deer every time I drive that way on 401/158. I was telling one of my coworkers today that I'd be way too sketched out to drive a motorcycle at night in that area just because of all the deer I see. So many close calls where I've skidded down the road with deer right in front of me...Plus, my dad hit one and my next door neighbor at Lake Gaston just hit one a couple weeks ago. They are everywhere out there around Littleton.8/3/2005 12:15:11 AM |

A close up pic of the damage. radiator brackets are bent at 45 degrees. And a pic of where the accident happened with lots of deer blood on the road

Well, it’s almost been three weeks since my run in with the deer. First two weeks has been trying to find parts for cheap, trying to make this the cheapest project as it possibly can be. I got the bike working last weekend and now it's all about cosmetic plastic surgery. Here are a list of materials and parts I got in the past few weeks with current project cost.
Used Radiator: $100 Left side air duct plastic: $25 Front wheel faring: $44 Left side vent cover: $1 Plastic Weld: $4 Bondo: $8 Sandpaper: $3
Current project cost: $185
Future items: Spray primer Spray gloss black paint Spray clear coat Various sandpapers More plastic weld Fiberglass materials
I also bought some aftermarket LED tail lights and planning on making my own fender eliminator kit. Here are a few pics:
As you can tell, the left upper cowl faring was a total mess, lots of plastic weld really does help. I still have to fill in some gaps and I plan on using fiberglass on the back for added support.
Btw, I pretty much drive it as it looks right now around ncsu (but I took the headlight off in that pic) 8/21/2005 6:15:53 AM |
