^ Your team is in a bit of trouble
By looking at your team Im going to assume you picked #1 and took LDT which was a good pick.
Then when it came back around you drafted Gates/Vick with the swing picks. Herein lies your big problem. You used your 2nd/3rd round picks on QB/TE which happen to be very deep this year.
You need to identify a sleeper early on to save this team. If it's a 10 team league you can save it, if its an 8 team league you're team is in big trouble...
Go ahead and cut Big Ben in favor of a backup RB with big upside like a Larry Johnson... i mean theres no way you'd ever dream of starting Ben Roth this year, he's about as pedestrian as it gets 8/18/2005 5:27:36 AM |

^ I agree with all of that. Unless you get Manning, or have a weird scoring system, I would go RB / RB the first two rounds 95% of the time... hell, sometimes I go with RBs for the first 3 cause you know one of yours will get hurt sometime in the year plus the bye weeks 8/18/2005 11:20:29 AM |

I was 2nd to pick and it is a 10 team league - 1st pick went to Peyton which like I said.. this scoring system is best for RBs so I was happy to get Tomlinson.
To make a long situation short.. there were 2ppl not present with some messed up lists.. and the rest of the people were badly monkey see monkey do and the people dictating the trend were in the middle of the ladder. This hurt me pretty bad in retrospec because I would sometimes see 10 or so picks go by before I could touch a position even if the round they were chosen didn't make sense to me. Everyone else jumps on the bandwagon and leaves me with the choice of taking what is left now.. or picking a prime choice from another position early.
This happened to me badly with the QB->RB->WR situation since it all occured early before I really realized where the fuckup was occuring (never did the live draft until this one) - thats when I picked up Gates in round 4 because I knew the WRs left would more than likely still be there.. and they were.. and damnit Rex for getting hurt again (Ben and Smith by the way were actually my very last picks - Vick was round 3)
Each position is only as deep as there are remaining healthy starters of course so I think I really will cut Ben to start... there are a few QBs in there I could pick up on a bye week and not worry. I can at least not worry about Dunn and can do my trading to fix the WRs.
And so you can see where I'm coming from with RBs - here is a snapshot of top remaining RBs - I haven't looked at it in detail but just as an example.
M. Shipp (Ari - RB) M. Pittman (TB - RB) L. Suggs (Cle - RB) D. Blaylock (NYJ - RB) N. Davenport (GB - RB) B. Hoover (Car - RB) Z. Crockett (Oak - RB) J. Sowell (NYJ - RB) 8/18/2005 4:41:28 PM |

im kinda new to fantasy how is this team? We start 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 2 RB/WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D 10 team league, $100 entry fee
QB: M.Bulger/A.Brooks/C.Palmer RB: C.Dillon/D.Davis/L.Jordan/C.Williams/W.Parker/E.Shelton WR: N.Burleson/D.Bennett/D.Branch/C.Rogers/T.Calico TE: T.Gonzalez/B.Troupe K: J.Wilkins D: Pittsburgh

you look good at QB and at RB...pretty weak at WR. i'd start bulger, dillon, davis, jordan, burleson, and branch. start gonzalez at TE but i wouldn't be surprised if troupe catches more TD's this year 9/5/2005 10:36:20 AM |

^ yeah i know WR looks weak.... i only have to start 2 WR's cause im going to definitely start 3 RB's.
Probably go with willie parker this week against Tenn rather than Jordan vs the patriots...
as weak as my receivers appear though Burleson was 1000 and 9 TD, and Bennett was 1250 and 12 TD's last year.... branch when healthy is a cog in the offense, rogers is a hit/miss guy, and Calico is a Norm Chow sleeper....
i think my points from Gonzalez will neutralize my marginal losses at WR and i can pound people with my RB's.... thats my hope anyway 9/5/2005 8:51:53 PM |

drop shelton(injured reserve) and nab someone else like: brandon jacobs, who is supposed to be the goal-line back for the giants bobby engram, #2 for seattle peerless price: who knows what will happen in dallas for him greg lewis: #2 in philly matt jones might be a sleeper as well

What do you all think about Gates at TE?
I'm ordering my list for an auto-draft in a couple of days. I'd be willing to take Gates over Gonzalez, but I'm wondering how much of a hit I'd take for him missing the first game. Any thoughts?
Also, any opinions on how high to list a kicker or defense? (This is a 10-team league with a draft that runs for 16 rounds.)

does starting Dbranch(vs oak) over Dbennett(vs pit) sound reasonable?

Need some opinions on which D to start this week. Our league gives MAJOR points for points allowed, and we also do the normal shit, sacks, ints, fumbles etc. but we do not take yardage into account...
my two D's are
New England vs. Oakland
and
Indy. vs. Baltimore
New England is obviously a stronger D, but I think Indy is going to be really improved this year and Baltimore's offense hasnt done shit... but NE is really good... any ideas? 9/7/2005 4:07:24 PM |

OK so I got Edge and Mike Anderson starting at RB, Torry and Nate Burleson starting at WR. My last WR/RB spot is open. Who should I start among these available players?
Steve Smith vs Saints Jamal Lewis vs Colts (coming off an injury) Santana Moss vs Bears Willie Parker vs Titans
Also, should I start Favre, with a bad ankle and playing Detroit, or should I go with Hassleback versus the Jags? 9/8/2005 12:55:51 AM |

Jaybee I'd start Indy's defense and not think twice about it based on your scoring system.
New England-Oakland is going to be a high scoring game, the over/under is 50 for gods sake.
Indy has an opportunistic defense and they will put up points there as well.
Dammit, all the things i read told me to start Dominack Davis and Lamont Jordan over Willie Parker so im gonna do it, but i dont like it.
Im starting Branch over Bennett though I dont care what anyone says.
Quote : | "Jamal is a big boy" |
He's also been in jail where they load you up on carbs. I'd be amazed if he's 100% ready to go in week one.
Fuel I'd go with Parker because RB's are safer to put up points than WR's and i like his matchup against Tenn.

Same situation for me. I am leaning towards Favre, mainly because Seattle's receiving corps may take some time to come together.9/8/2005 6:41:04 AM |

Id definitely go with Favre....
thats likely to be a shootout as both defenses stink.
The Jags play a ball control, low scoring game and their defense is fairly stout in terms of yardage allowed. 9/8/2005 7:38:24 AM |

Okay, so I'm kind of fucked on QB.
Our auto-draft ran this morning, and as far as I can tell it looks like people loaded up QBs high on their lists. I ended up with Eli Manning in the 15th round.
Now, not only is Manning's production this year questionable until the Giants prove their O-line and receivers, but he's also injured and there's a chance he won't even be playing this week, and I have no backup QB.
So...I have a free-agency transaction pending, dropping Tyrone Calico to add Kurt Warner (of the QBs left, I'd probably want Harrington, but there's a possibility that he as well might be out this week. Also, there's a chance--however remote--that Kurt might be good this year.) 9/8/2005 11:18:38 AM |

Delhomme
He was a very good fantasy QB last year, plus he has a running game to help him out this year. He won't throw for as many yards as last year, but his stats should still be good. 9/8/2005 5:58:36 PM |

any thoughts? our league starts 2 rb and 2 wr, as well as a wr/rb spot 9/10/2005 1:15:35 AM |

i have the w/r spot left and i can't decide who to play...
J. Galloway (TB - WR): expected to get punt returns and a threat for big breakout plays
M. Bennett (Min - RB): can be a top 15 rb or a bottom 15 rb depending on health, tice has already said that he is going to play ALL of his backs...so i pulled him off of this spot and i'm skeptical about it C. Rogers (Det - WR): if harrington is on then he could be a big find in the late rounds. the few games he has been healthy he looked like a future pro bowler D. Patten (Was - WR): a dangerous wr (especially when brady was throwing to him)...had a HUGE preseason with like an average of 25 ypc, but i don't trust ramsey at qb
so who do you all think i should start in that spot? 9/11/2005 12:40:44 AM |

I've been stuck all week on this:
WR/RB spot: T.J. Houshmandzadeh (vs. Cleveland) or Domanick Davis (vs. Buffalo)
It looks like a no-brainer at first, with Davis being one of the top rated players in all of fantasy football, and Houshmandzadeh being a second receiver on the Bengals, but I really think Housh has a very favorable matchup, and I don't like Davis aganist the Bills defense. No clue what to do.
Edit: For the hell of it, here is what my roster is for this week at the moment:
QB: Joey Harrington WR: Nate Burleson WR: Deion Branch RB: Priest Holmes RB: Curtis Martin TE: Jason Witten WR/RB: T.J. Houshmandzadeh K: Ryan Longwell D: Tampa Bay
Bench: Domanick Davis Michael Vick Lee Evans Charles Rogers Cedric Benson Michael Pittman Donte' Stallworth Reche Caldwell
