Back on topic, I think Arizona State has a decent chance at beating USC, especially since the game is at Sun Devil Stadium this year.

Even if they comeback and win today I still think they'll have trouble winning their third consecutive National Championship next year.

not that it matters, but the reason why the media keeps saying USC won the title two years ago was that the BCS fucked them out of a Championship berth. IIRC the polls had USC at number 1, but LSU and Oklahoma were in the title game and USC was left out.

the only reason that USC was placed at #1 in the polls was because they knew the BCS system would pit LSU against Oklahoma and they just wanted to cause a bunch of bullshit drama over the system. Because of all the publicity they drew, they ended up getting a share in the BCS voting system for the following year, and praised it for working well under their input while neglecting to mention how Auburn was getting fucked over in the exact same manner.

Actually I think that The AP poll crowned USC because they really belived they would beat LSU head to head and that USC was the best team in the country. Sorry to bust your "undermine the BCS" theory. The reason the AP poll didn't do it for Auburn last year shows that they don't care about fucking the BCS, they just vote on who they think is best, both years happened to be USC.

^^ ummm... the AP poll was included in the formula that put LSU in the title game... they didn't cause bullshit in order to get a say in the BCS, they already had a say, they caused bullshit becuase they want a stupid playoff system

the AP did not get any say in the BCS system two years ago other than initial rankings. After the split championship fiasco created by the AP two years ago, BCS was modified so that the AP scorings would account for one-third of the final team rankings.

Apparently a non-majority vote isn't good enough for the AP, since they issued a cease and desist order against the BCS last year for using their rankings. They stated that they did not want to be associated with the BCS if they were only getting a partial vote in who plays in which bowl games.

I am still fucking pissed that Auburn didn't get to play USC that year. DAMNIT.

If they win this year and next year, then it would be a 3-peat

They had their chance the two previous years and lost both of those.

It woulda been a better matchup than USC-Oklahoma tho.

I said that before saying it in hindsight (55-19) was the cool thing to do.

Maybe, maybe not. Can't really say...

But I still think the only reason Auburn went undefeated was because they didn't have to play USC.

shit, for that matter I thought LSU-USC was the better game in '03.

sucks that they didnt get to play either.

its something about the Big XII and the Pac-10 always putting teams into the championship game. prolly because one team out of those conferences dominate. polarity sucks.

I loved the LSU-OU game, I watched it at the State Palace Theatre on Canal St. in New Orleans

about 2000 people there, 98% of them LSU fans, it was so loud you'd think we were at the game

however i think i would've enjoyed watching LSU-USC, if only to stop USC from pandering around claiming they won a title they didn't play for.
