World's Most Expensive (~$1.3 million)
World's Fastest (253 mph)
World's Quickest (0-60 mph in 2.46 sec)
World's Most Powerful (1001 hp)
World's Torquiest (922 lb-ft)
That's quite a record for a single car.
I would say it would take forever for another car to come out which will break all five records, or even three of them.
Even the individual records will take a long time to be broken (by gasoline powered production cars). My estimates:
Price: 10-15 years
Top Speed: 20-30 years
Acceleration: 3-5 years
Power: 5-10 years
Torque: 3-5 years 12/13/2005 2:46:19 PM |

The top gear episode on it was phenomenal.
And they mentioned that each one costs Bugatti something like 5 million pounds, which is like 7.5million bucks.
So they are LOSING THEIR ASSES on these. Great investment for someone.
Also that, full out, it runs through a tank of gas in 12 minutes. 12/13/2005 6:47:05 PM |

Okay here's another bit of trivia for you.
Put the Veyron and the Mercedes Mclaren SLR side by side.
Let the SLR get to 120mph before the Bugatti even moves.
The Veyron will beat it to 200.
253mph to a dead stop in 10 seconds. 12/14/2005 3:27:34 AM |

Well, I'm wrong about the copyright issue. While they do not hold US copyrights on the content, the UK copyrights are valid in the US. Damn treaties.
Good news is though, the BBC (who produces top gear), is a public institution, and is included in the UK's freedom of information act. Which, it appears, in theory, means that their content can be used for non-commercial fair use. So you can't redistribute or sell anything, but you can record, copy and save their content.
But this is all very little informed conjecture 12/16/2005 5:20:00 PM |

I thought it was growing on me, but its just painfully ugly. I saw some pics from last pebble beach where it was parked next to the alfa 8c competizione.... the bugatti is an image-conscious sled, not a sports car. somehow the nth hp thing is getting old now that there's SOO many overpowered cars these days. 12/16/2005 7:25:22 PM |

it's hardly ugly.
And it will most likely be THE best, fastest, most outrageous sports car we see in our lifetimes. Everything in it is so far beyond production capability today, so much faster and more advanced. You have to think, to get the numbers they are getting, they are losing their ass on every car. Other than possibly Ford, there isn't another manufacturer out there that can absorb this kind of loss just to prove they can make the best.
There is a HUGE difference between all these retarded aftermarket cars making 1000+ hp, and a PRODUCTION, warranteed vehicle doing it. A HUGE difference.
And the car isn't beautiful, but I think it's definitely pretty well designed, especially for what it's able to do. 12/18/2005 3:04:13 AM |

Pagani sold one of their Zonda's and BMW sold all the cars they had on the stand in Dubai (incl. a Mini). Lamborghini sold a Murciélago Roadster, a Gallardo Spyder and a Gallardo Coupé.
But perhaps most satisfied was Bugatti. They managed to sell 6 (!) Veyrons. Also a very happy man is without a doubt the boss of Coach West. They sell limo's and armoured cars. The brand got around 50 new jobs.
The total worth of all sales is around 23.000.000 euro / 27.305.600 USD / 15.617.000 Pounds" |

Bugatti next plans to make a hyper-sedan with the same engine, but rated at more reasonable levels, such as 950 hp, and will also sell for more reasonable dollars, such as 900K. This sedan will make the Maybach and the Phantom look like BMW 5 series cars, just as the Veyron makes the McLaren/Enzo/Carerra/Murcielago look like Toyota Celicas. Since all the development costs are preety much taken care of, they hope to make a profit on this on, or at least break even. It will be all the rage with rappers and software moguls.
Some more stats:
Estimates by C&D:
Zero to 60 mph: 2.9 sec (already tested at 2.46 in Europe) Zero to 100 mph: 6.0 sec Zero to 150 mph: 11.0 sec Zero to 200 mph: 22.0 sec Standing 1/4-mile: 10.8 sec @ 140 mph

dude the Saleen S7 TT has been out for a year. If there is any currently that can beat the Veyron in acceleration, this is it. (and maybe also the Koenigsegg CCR)
think about it, 2950 lbs and 750 hp and 700 lb-ft.
it has a significantly better weight to power ratio than the Veyron.
company estimates are 0-60 in 2.8 and 0-100 in 6 seconds. 1/4 mile in 10.6 seconds.
i want some mag to get a hold of it and test it to find out its full potential. 1/4/2006 5:39:53 PM |

My first car ever will be a Bugatti!!!
‘Baby Bugatti’ to cost just five figures?
Quote : | "Considering the Bugatti Veyron costs seven figures — around $1.3 million in the United States — most folks have suspected the much-rumored ‘Baby Bugatti’ would probably cost between $100,000 and $200,000. However, AutoBild magazine is reporting that Volkswagen has much different plans for its second supercar brand. The new Bugatti will cost just 50,000 euros and have a four-cylinder turbo engine putting out between 280 and 320 horsepower. Most importantly, it will weigh just 2,444 pounds. That means it will spring to 62 mph in somewhere between four and five seconds. It will also have a top speed of 188 mph, according to the report. Clearly, the roadster will target the Porsche Boxster/Cayman and BMW Z4M. But with substantially less weight than those vehicles, it would be much quicker. The car is said to have development numbers BG913 (coupe) and BG914 (roadster). Between 5,000 and 6,000 units are to be made each year, with an introduction toward the end of the decade. Since the 2010 model year is a long ways off, we’d take these artist renderings with a grain of salt. " |
