The only good thing I can think of with this is that it will bring attention to the street and bring in other bars, which will actually follow through on their promises of actually catering to college students. There was a fucking velvet rope there tonight. No place with a velvet rope is for college students here.

I'm not totally convinced about this, but I think it's worth the thought...

Maybe putting too many pizza joints on hillsborough st is precisely what causes them to go out of business.

i really want this place to succeed, but it concerns me that it seemed to be marketed originally as a 'student lounge' but the cover charge isn't consistent with this kind of theme.

That's my problem with this. If they'd just said from the beginning that it's a high-class kind of place, that'd be one thing. I think it'll be great if they stay open and do well, because that'll attract more cool stuff to the area instead of 15 more pizza places.

Wed. nights will be college nights where 18+ can get in and I'm quite sure most nights won't have any cover at all

many of the specials are priced with college students in mind and during the afternoon there's coffee and free Wi-Fi for studying

I probably shouldn't say this since I work at a bar on G-wood, but i love the guys who run it and own it. nice peeps. i hope they do well, and i know they have a nice set-up. "college students" is a pretty broad term........i don't think they cater to those who think PJ in a plastic cup is a cocktail, so don't expect a titty-flashing, underage cluster-fuck atmosphere. I have friends and co-workers who work there, and they are great people. Try it out, but try us, too......

I have to say, that while the crowd gets a little gay past 10 pm, this is a great bar. Last Friday night I was there and there was a Bud Light representative in the house and all bud products were free. I was happy. They are trying too hard to be upscale though and it comes across as cheesy.

It's not worth a cover charge though, good thing they didn't ask for one when I went.
