Not bothering to prepare for the off chance that the levees might break is just as wreckless and careless. Besides, at very least, they should have loaded up a warehouse or two of supplies and then when you have a storm bearing in, just move the stuff to the Superdome or the Convention Center. Doesn't have to be anything fancy.

Remind me again why I should foot the bill so that other people can go and live in an area 20 feet below sea level with a big ass lake nearby and that is prone to big ass hurricanes. Seems to me that if those dumbasses want to do that, then THEY should pay for their fucking levees. There's plenty of money in louisiana to pay for it. Should the feds help out some? I suppose so, but don't act like louisiana and NO were incapable of paying for their own fucking protection.

You aren't paying for them, you are paying for yourself. You suffer when that town turns into atlantis because it is a valuable part of our country's shipping, fuel, and a vital part of our economic infrastructure.

My mutuals are going to be losing money because of this government's incompetence. My meager tax break certainly isn't going to cover up for what I will lose there, so I'm getting less out of the government for my tax dollar.
