let's try this again

he explicitly states that he did not perform any testing of the cables, and that it could be just the new HD pack that fixed it... in fact

Quote :
"It looks like the MadCatz HD pack was the culprit after all."

however, somehow, you are absolutely 100% correct in suggesting new cables (and not a new HD pack, only mentioning it tangentially), and I am wrong in mocking you for suggesting new cables? What is missing from your head, that's what I want to know.

You fucking dipshit, the "HD PACK" IS A CABLE.

Have you ever taken one apart? Because I have, both the official one AND a knock-off pack. Inside it's a fucking shielded cable and NOTHING else.

There are no electronics inside, no circuitboard, nothing (except for the optical audio out obviously). It goes from a pin on the rear xbox av connector out to the pins on the component.

So yes, I am still right you fucking clueless shithead. You are absolutely 110% dead fucking wrong.

OK, so, if he went out and replaced the cables, like you said, and it still hadn't worked because it wasn't the cables, but turned out to be the HD pack, you're saying that you'd still be "right" even though you were "wrong". That is why pretty much everyone in Tech Talk wishes you'd shut up, you realize-- the whole redefining everything in terms of you being right regardless of what stupid shit you spat out of your asshole to hear yourself type? You want everyone to make these assumptions that allow you to be right, when you being right isn't anyone's concern at all. They're trying to solve a problem, and your assumptions are generally unjustified, reaching, and dead wrong. If you'd just shut your fucking mouth unless you knew something, you wouldn't have to do so much damage control.

Finally, I'd just like to say that a break-out box is not a cable, you short-bus motherfuck, so quit squirming like a 6-year-old trying to get out of a hold by Michael Jackson.

I said it was a cabling problem and to try better cable.

You said there is no way in hell it could even possibly be a cabling problem.

It was, in some capacity, a cabling problem.

So how is it that you are right and I am wrong?

Quote :

And the fucking breakout box IS a cable. Definition of a cable "A bound or sheathed group of mutually insulated conductors." If that's not what a breakout box consists of, please do explain what it DOES consist of. A group of wires sheathed by a BOX. For fuck's sake you are an idiot.

Quote :

Hence why I provide SUGGESTIONS FOR SOLUTIONS, while the rest of you fucking twits sit and bitch about theoretical shit that the original person could give two shits about.

WHERE DID YOU OFFER A SINGLE FUCKING SUGGESTION FOR A SOLUTION? OH WAIT YOU DIDN'T. I DID. RIGHT OR WRONG, I ATTEMPTED TO HELP. So one again you are fucking trolling, and doing a terrible job at it.

At the end of the day, DirtyMonkey knows who actually CONTRIBUTED, and who TROLLED.

If you are so much fucking smarter than I am, and so much more APT to answer all these questions that you think I am unqualified or uninformed to answer, why dont you DO IT. Because all I see is you ridiculing me, while not providing any alternate WORKING solutions. I'd be MORE than happy for you or anyone else to take over answering questions properly here.

It's really easy to cut down other people's suggestions, it's a bit harder to come up with your own. So again, eat my ass, put your fucking money where your mouth is.

That's what it is that I never took the time to figure out what it is I didn't like about you.

Even in your most recent post you are sticking to your guns about "cabling". Your continued claim of being correct rests on the idea that DirtyMonkey is thinking on the same level you are, that is the break out box being nothing more than a cable. Obviously, this thread was made so I think it is a damn good assumption he didn't consider this at first, and probably not when you said "cabling" because most people are going to think "cables" not "wires in a box". Hell, I would assume the problem was in the chain somewhere but if you said cables, I'm not going to assume you meant breakout box and you probably didn't either.

Nonetheless, you have a very valid point here:

Quote :
"WHERE DID YOU OFFER A SINGLE FUCKING SUGGESTION FOR A SOLUTION? OH WAIT YOU DIDN'T. I DID. RIGHT OR WRONG, I ATTEMPTED TO HELP"

So Tibby, you are going to need to come with a little more than attacks if you want legitimacy, otherwise you are becoming a bit of an annoyance.

I'd like for monkey to do the testing of old cables with official pack and old pack with new cables to see actually which made the difference.

But it doesn't really matter either way seeing as he didn't even MENTION he was using a knockoff hd box until AFTER I suggested better cabling.

And since he bought them together, mentioning that the cables might suck would draw a logical conclusion that maybe the HD box does too. If you buy a socket set, and instantly break one of the sockets, one will generally draw the conclusion that the rest of the set is probably shit too. I don't think that's backpedaling or faulty logical reasoning.

I am DEFENDING my ORIGINAL statement's validity, NOT the current state of affairs and knowledge. The fact you can't distinguish between the two isn't my problem or concern. The man's shit works now and he is happy.

^Considering thats the only component cable madcatz makes, I'd say that's probably it.

Which, if it IS what he was using, would make me absolutely correct in my assessment again Thanks Stein!

^^^^what I intended to offer was a suggestion that Noen be ignored as if he were not here at all

and when you consider that his suggestion (to replace cables) was, overinterpretation aside, completely fucking worthless... and that he's STILL... yes, STILL-- after the problem has been solved, and half-way down on the second page-- insisting that he was right... my advice might have been the best given in the thread.

Did you even look at the madcatz thing?

IT IS A CABLE.

On further review, I think Noen is completely vindicated in this thread. Unfortunately for you, you just got unlucky with the thread in which you decided to jump down his throat. Lurk around a little more not giving any real help, and maybe you'll catch him in something legit.

Otherwise, your incessant and often times misplaced rants and hate are getting to be more tiresome than Noen's pedantism.

Since it is so important to so many people that we get an answer on what was really the problem, I will try my best to remember to crawl behind the tv and do some extra unneccessary testing after work.

Stein: No that is not the madcatz adapter I have. The one we have I actually looked for on the internet when I was first having the problem but could not find it on their website. It's probably discontinued for obvious reasons. I'll take a picture of it and if it doesn't look like too much trouble I'll take a peak inside as well.

Oh, and in MY defense:

"DirtyMonkey: oh shit don't tell me that. its very possible as this was the floor model. we have 30 days to send it back so i guess i'll double check some settings and then we might have to call up circuit city and tell them to come get it.

this saddens me.

p.s. if a component video cable was faulty, could this happen or would it just not work?

Noen:
take the xbox and cables to a friends hdtv and retest it.

Are you using component cables or just three rca cables?

DirtyMonkey:
they are the component cables that came with the madcatz a/v pack. i'm actually going to a friends house tonight that has an hdtv so i'll test the box and cables there."

So I went behind the TV this afternoon to do the cable comparison and found that the newest MS XBOX HD pack does not have connectors like the madcatz one does. I didn't know that before because my roomate switched the two initially.

It is basically a cable that goes straight from the xbox to the component in jack on the tv. They don't have a picture of the latest on xbox.com but it is much different and has much higher guage cables than the madcatz (or they used some super thick rubber coating). However, MS has the audio cables bundled in there as well while the madcatz audio cables were separate. (the optical cable is still separate).

Here is a picture of the madcatz pack that sucks.

Sorry I couldn't do thorough testing, but it really doesn't matter anyway. If you ever get a chance to see the new version of the MS HD Pack you will see that it is mostly cable and a small splitter to the component and audio cables that may do some filtering or what not.

I was going to take the madcatz thing apart, but it is not being cooperative and it's not mine to break.

So again thanks to everyone who offered useful input. To the trolls: get yourself a woman.

I still have a hard time believing that Noen was referring to the "component box" (his own words) at the same time he was referring to the "component cables" and/or "just three RCA cables".

and I have a harder time believing that the cables were at fault. I don't see how Noen "win's" by arguing that he is right because the drop-out box is, sort-of, kind-of a cable, by one definition and in stark contrast to its use in that context... if anything, I'd think such a pathetic attempt to assert his ego would be a failure... at life.
