TreeTwista10 is a good drone.
Quote : | ""Has your district defended any cases on behalf of the Army Corps of Engineers against claims brought by environmental groups seeking to block or otherwise impede the Corps work on the levees protecting New Orleans? If so, please describe the case and the outcome of the litigation," said the communication, which was read to The Associated Press on Friday by Justice Department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse." |

Did you even READ that article? You quoted the QUESTION that was asked, which was basically, have any environmental group lawsuits hindered the mainenance/upgrades of levees...and there was no answer...so how the hell do you extrapolate Quote : | "Environmentalist group lawsuits had nothing to do with the flooding of NO" | ? The only thing the article says is that there were multiple lawsuits in the past by environmental groups to oppose levee maintenance and upgrades
Quote : | "It cited two groups, American Rivers and the Sierra Club, for their federal suit in 1996 to block an upgrade of 303 miles of levees in Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Most of those levees are on the Mississippi River and did not fail during Katrina.
Separately, an environmental lawsuit in 1977 stopped an Army Corps project designed after Hurricane Betsy in 1965 to protect New Orleans from storm surges.

So again I ask, how the hell do you say the lawsuits had "nothing to do with the flooding of NO"? Is it because the quoted democratic senator Lautenberg "he believes the information sought by the Justice Department is part of a concerted effort by the administration to deflect criticism"?]9/19/2005 12:06:23 PM |

Why does the USDOJ want to know? Are they going to jail environmentalists? 9/19/2005 12:27:15 PM |

Maybe they want to know what factors went into the levees failing because its important?
Maybe they're not content with just saying "IT'S 100% GEORGE BUSH'S FAULT"?
Maybe because those lawsuits did impede progress on maintaining and upgrading the levees?
They might want to help come up with better plans of action for preventing future disasters instead of just pointing the finger and blaming someone, without coming up with possible solutions to help this problem from now on?
It seems pretty fucking intuitive that they would question the lawsuits...I really don't see what leg you are standing on right now] 9/19/2005 12:29:12 PM |
