Point 1:

GNP > GDP because it includes profits made by a that nation's citizens. However, you , TGD replied to me with:

Quote :
"I'll cut you a deal SandSanta: find me the last time in the history of the fucking world where a country's GDP divided by 300,000,000 equaled $40,100.00 "

Lets ignore the fact for a moment that National debt would still be about 60% of GNP; How are going to accuse me of "posting something completely irrelevent and pretend its an answer...not realizing that GNP > GDP" when you're the poster that brought GDP into the argument in the first place. If you're so all knowing and I'm so wrong for aguing about GDP, why didn't you say GDP to begin with?

Point 2)

Quote :
"You took the typical route of teh L3ft, which is to post something completely irrelevant and pretend it's an answer,"

This brings up a great point, posting "something completely irrelevant and pretend its an answer."

I believe my original question was

Quote :
"Hey TGD, find me the last time in the history of the fucking world where a country's debt divided by 300,000,000 equaled 26,795.56 ."

to which you replied with:

Quote :
"I'll cut you a deal SandSanta: find me the last time in the history of the fucking world where a country's GDP divided by 300,000,000 equaled $40,100.00"

Forgive my ignorance, but how is GDP relevent to my question. I mean you did just say GNP > GDP right. Making that more important of an argument right? Or maybe, and I'm giving you the benifit of a big doubt here, you actually understand economics and know there's now real way to justify running such a large national debt.

Point 3)
Quote :
"To answer your question though, teh L3ft had the Presidency for 8 years out of those 24."

Which is funny, because at the end of those 8 years for whatever multitude of reasons, the National debt decreased.

Point 4) I'll vouch no love for this administration but I've voted across party times in any situation where I deemed the candidate appropriate. You might want to stop calling everyone that disagrees with the bullshit you type as "teh l3ft."

Sort of like when I posted how we aren't the highest debt per capita in the world and you sort of skipped over it and resorted to ranting about not wanting to include or at least look at GDP or scale in the process.

Every baby born today is now $26,795.76 in debt thanks to the rapacious repugnicans looting the treasury with an illegal a war, needless domestic spending and the tax cuts to the robber-barons. not enough spending cuts to offset the tax cuts.

the left has big problems when you go to war and increase the debt with that kind of spending, but they dont seem to care when you increase the debt with art funding and research grants

Because its a matter of scale and perspective. Our debt is at its highest but its not like everything else has remained stagnant... our GDP and other economic figures have grown with it. If we weren't one of the wealthiest countries in the world then I could see your point but you have to look at the sum of the parts and how they fit in the picture too.

OK I'll go slow so you can follow along here...

If GDP is less than GNP (let's call it the BEA's new term "Gross National Income" / GNI to avoid confusion), then me using GDP numbers instead of GNI numbers benefits your argument since it creates a smaller # per capita...since [A / X] < [B / X] when A is less than B.

I went by GDP initially b/c had I gone with GNI, there would have been a "OMF you're using GNI! You have to use GDP instead!!1" response to it. I was trying to help you out here...

"SandSanta: Or maybe, and I'm giving you the benifit of a big doubt here, you actually understand economics and know there's now real way to justify running such a large national debt."

So you're standing by your argument that income is irrelevant in relation to debtload?

---

Quote :
"SandSanta: Which is funny, because at the end of those 8 years for whatever multitude of reasons, the National debt decreased."

And that is relevant how, exactly? Considering (as you shockingly noted) that it was caused by a "multitude of reasons"...

Whether I disagree with it or not is irrelevant. I judge teh L3ft by the correlation of BS posted by the user to the BS posted by pryderi

what, you cant read plain english? i gave you more credit than that

to put it in even SIMPLER terms...the left bitches about the deficit...and blames military spending and other "senseless Republican spending" on the deficit...they dont like to acknowledge the senseless democrat spending like funding for the arts or money for a research grant to study some rare worms out in Kansas

Are you still a fucking idiot or can you finally understand that simple concept now? Or both

Several conservative think tanks were already calling for doing away with those bridges, even before Katrina.
