ahahaha

i'm picturing osama and sadaam driving around the beach, arguing about the parking, and complaining about the "tourists", without a hint of irony, as if they are locals because they show up at their condo 4 times a year....but they've owned it since the mid 80s

terrorist holiday

The thing that makes me laugh most is MathFreak's first post in this thread. He, supposedly the intellectualist, calls someone a "big girl" as an insult, and I roll in the floors, laughing my ass off.

as a christian conservative, i welcome the move towards humanism and accept it as part of the biblical prophecy foretold by the book of Revelation. A secular world brings us closer to the ultimate judgment day, and eventually the defeat of Lucifer. This is a good thing. Hang in there, because dealing with hedonists and anti-religious folks can be tiresome. Thats why I don't normally like to say too much around here. People are much too quick to hate, and the internet is an ineffectual medium in terms of changing minds, hearts, and spiritual beliefs.

but anyways.

A decent enough point, if you're serious, but there's different schools of thought on the matter, many of which say we should fight hte encroachment of noncrhristian ideals with every ounce of resistance we have. Sitting back and waiting passively for the world to end could be construed...badly.

And this explains your reasoning that Christians are being discriminated, or shall I say, persecuted?

You can celebrate Christmas too!!!!
By the way, us Christians haven't necessarily been the kindest of people either (Pat Robertson for a recent example).

Stop the presses!

An Islamic advocacy group is asking for a House resolution recognizing Ramadan! What's next, a Christian group wanting to recognize Easter?

She's trolling - she makes it sound like it's emanant, when in reality it's not even up for a vote - it's barely on the radar (except in her own mind).

But, whats wrong with wishing Muslims a happy Ramadan? We have an Easter egg hunt on the Whitehouse lawn every year. Why not wish good will to all sincere members of faith (or atheists for that matter)?

Fringe Islamic groups support terrorism in the same way that fringe Christian groups support racism.

Here is a link to the proposed resolution:

the founding fathers of Christianity (that would be the apostles and shit, not ben franklin and his posse) all thought they would see the "end times" and what not

paul and the other "smart" ones had to encourage them to actually go back to fishing and shit

"the founding fathers built this country on the traditions of christianity and good moral values"

How long can we go along justifying every decision based on what "the founding fathers" intended. They intended a lot of things that most people don't agree with:

1) Women not being allowed to vote
2) Restricting the power of the general public to vote (most people are not well informed so they can't make good decisions) - electoral college
3) Restricing the voting power of non-whites

The founding fathers were smart guys but not all of their ideas were built for the globalized, melting pot world that we live in. Relgious issues of the time in government were Anglican Vs Catholicism or some other Christian variant, at least in America.

Integrating into our culture everyone who comes here is the true strength of America. Doing anything that encourages Muslim or other ethnic/religous groups to not be a part of our society will ultimately cause conflict.

exactly. the founding fathers were genocidal, racist, sexist, classist bastards. They drove out the original inhabitants of this land, brought in the inhabitants of africa as slaves, and then proceeded to prance around like they owned the place. Sure, I'm glad we have america... kind of... but no matter how long we've been here, the founding fathers were not the sort of people we should be holding up as heroes.

That said, I have some questions for THABIGL, even though it's obvious for you to use one ounce of logic when thinking (or unless you're a really good troll, which I think is more possible):

1.) You do know that students can pray all they like in school, right? The prayer must be student-organized, and that's the only rule. Anyone, including administration and faculty, is quite welcome to pray on school grounds, so long as the prayer is student organized and doesn't interrupt normal school activities.
2.) If we shouldn't recognize islamic holidays because the people who attacked us on 9/11 are muslims, what does that mean about christian holidays, given that timothy mcveigh was a christian? Adolf Hitler was a christian, too. Does that not, by your logic, mean that we should shun christianity?

Well I think it depends on what you mean by the word "fight." Not that sometimes I don't wanna just hit someone in the jaw for being a horrible human being, or a bunch of people for being well-organized horrible human beings. I'd favor more "resistance" than "fight." We do have the ability to resist secularism, and ultimately continue our lives as Christians in an increasingly Humanistic world. But from a prophetic standpoint, there's very little we can do anyways to thwart the end. I see your point though, and agree. I didn't mean to sound like i meant "waiting passively" but i totally see where that could have come from.

Anyways, we already see the rolled eyes, the verbal lashings that people get here merely for being a Christian; now i realize that the suspect fringe has found a home on this board, and that most are really just sort of spineless weenies in real life, but how long until their mindset becomes a mainstream reality? If people feel this way now towards us, what will the future hold? Well, it's already been written.

i'm not talking about government policy. if anything, it's social movement. And it's not being used as a guide so much as a list of clues that, when compared to what happens today, raises some red flags that should be considered.

I would agree it is spitting on their graves if they felt bad for owning slaves or killing the Native Americans or not letting a lot of the population vote. That would be like making fun of W's drug problem after he kicked the habit and regrets it.

However, these people felt that what they did was totally correct and proper. We now know those people were wrong on some issues. They were not perfect and many of our traditions are not made for a large non-Christian minority.

We can't keep putting everything through the filter of WWTFFD.

i mean so they cancel school an extra day, close the Post Office 2 more times, and companies start selling Ramadan cards.

what is wrong with just christmas is that when the gov't says to a federal employee, hey, you're not going to work because it's a national holiday (christmas). Then when he/she says, i won't work on hanukkah because that is my holiday he/she has to take a sick day off. the jew would have to suffer because of his/her religion, no?

the point is, what makes one religious holiday better than the next? or why is one religion established as more federally observed than the other?

does that make sense to you?
