someone makes those, but i forget who.
expensive.
you can get them from tires-n-parts on dawson st. i think it's silver when off, amber or white when on.
good manufacturer though, like phillips or sylvania.10/12/2005 3:53:03 PM |

they had just what I needed at autozone, made by "xenon" i think but they were 1157 or 2057 instead of 3157. I can make it work but id hate to swap the sockets just to run some different bulbs. 10/12/2005 5:55:59 PM |

there are the bulbs you want.
3157 is a dual filament bulb, but the ones i've seen that are great (i.e. phillips silver vision and Osram Diadem, Sylvania Silverstar) are single.
i've heard that the stealth bulbs are dimmer than stock. i dunno how much. 10/19/2005 2:36:29 AM |

ironically nam at phantasm seems to be the only person in town who can awnser my questions about these things, actually stocks them, and offers a money back gaurantee on any PIAA bulbs. also had the chrome 3157 i needed. 10/21/2005 11:09:16 PM |

how much were they?

oh i didnt buy any piaas or anything else yet, all i got were the chrome bulbs, the 3157's were 15ea
before I spend $100 on some bulbs that may last a year I may just spend the $ for HID conversion. not sure yet. 10/22/2005 6:32:53 PM |

look good so far, although I just got them in tonight. 10/25/2005 10:22:14 PM |

that's rather expensive.
i believe i paid $14 a pair for my car.
same performance.
do your bulbs have clear or coated glass? 10/26/2005 1:23:35 AM |
optmusprimer All American 30318 Posts user info edit post |
100% clear, light is bright white. probably not on the PIAAA level but not for the PIAA cost either. these are much more effective than the silverstars were on my car. 10/26/2005 6:14:02 AM |
Seotaji All American 34244 Posts user info edit post |
yeah, PIAA and those shitty silverstars are bullshit.
you got the right shit.
it'll last longer too. 10/27/2005 11:31:10 AM |

i like PIAA bulbs. never have had a problem with the several sets i've owned (for different cars, not due to bulb failure). i currently have the Xtreme white plus in my truck. a. they look great. b. i, personally, can see better with them. i dont give a fuck what y'all say.
and optmus, you're right about nam. that motherfucker does know his shit when it comes to bulbs. hell, all ricer shit for that matter. he does offer a warranty with the bulbs he sells also. if one blows, just bring it back and he'll swap it out. he's never given anyone an issue with that. i'd say 95% of the bulb failures that have been returned were due to installation error by touching the bulb and not cleaning it before installation. 10/27/2005 9:17:38 PM |

ricers and their greasy fingers
wal-mart has a pretty good return policy too, L O L- i returned my 9 year old OEM sylvania bulbs in the GE nighthawk package for a full refund. I hate wal-mart and thats my way of sticking it to them, SO THERE WAL MART TAKE THAT! 10/27/2005 9:48:33 PM |

hahaha, walmart does have a nice "no questions asked" return policy. i had bought a bird feeder from there and the damn thing crashed to the ground when a squirrel jumped on it and shattered into 50 fucking pieces. i just put it back in the box and brought it back. they didn't even open the box. 10/27/2005 10:08:44 PM |

^^thats a damn good idea.
Im not sure if they make the nighthawks in the style i need (rectangular housing things) so i might have to settle for the silverstar ones
[Edited on October 27, 2005 at 10:13 PM. Reason : you remember seeing any? walmart.com has no automotive section] 10/27/2005 10:10:47 PM |

you must mean for your 240, it takes a 6054 (or is it 5064) type sealed beam right? what you want is to convert to H4 (i think) style bulbs using something like APC's diamond housings.

yeah im a cheap bastard so thats why I ask about sealed beam nighthawks
i wanted those H4 conversion housings back in my ricer days. my supercool blue's from walmart are doin' fine for me at the moment 10/27/2005 10:44:10 PM |

I used to warn customers against "cool blue" headlights, and I quote, "they arent cool, and they arent blue".

if you're gonna do that, ya might as well get the hella e-code housings from autosport gallery and do the h4 conversion. those APC conversion kits are SHIT. they are cheap though.
then you can get the REAL silverstar bulbs from the U.K. and be pimpin it.

oh i agree, some of them aren't bad. the xtreme white bulbs I had were the shit and lasted near forever, but the plasma bulbs were shit and cost a lot more. it's a good thing i was able to get a refund for them. i got two pairs before i got fed up.10/29/2005 12:57:57 PM |

i returned my slightly used silverstars to advance for a full refund, and learned they actually are "required" to destroy them in-store, they guy even offered them back to me but i declined. interesting. 10/29/2005 3:49:13 PM |

in case some of y'all are interested in "HIR" bulbs, you can find them from your local John Deere tractor dealer for $10, low beams only (9006/HB4). order by this p/n: 1-AH211917. In case they ask, they are for the 9000 series tractors. The bulbs are Toshiba 9012.
you will need to trim the tabs to make them fit. here are instructions: http://shnu.us/HIR%20Trimming%20Stock.htm
here is a test report on bulbs proving that HIR bulbs truly do increase light output: http://www.bmwcca.org/members/AM/Template.cfm?Section=Let_There_Be_E36_Light 12/9/2006 6:37:31 PM |

I have a headlight related question:
I've got an 07 civic. When I'm driving at night, I've had several cars flash me like I've got my brights on when I don't. I've noticed more and more that new cars are starting to do this. What gives? 12/9/2006 8:32:45 PM |

i get flashes because people think my brights are on from time to time with my xenons - i've heard from other people that they have the same thing happen to them 12/10/2006 11:54:48 AM |
