rflong how are you going to say that a jones' season was a fluke. He is one of the best center field players in the league. He has been good ever sense he hit that homerun his rookie year. give him some credit. also we still have chipper and i predict that he will stay healthy this year and produce. he really cares about hte braves organization.

"With the Braves likely to start McCann behind the plate next year, they had the chance to trade Estrada in an attempt to improve their beleaguered bullpen.

Cormier was 7-3 with a 5.11 ERA in 67 relief appearances last season, and Villarreal went 2-0 with a 5.27 ERA in 11 relief appearances. Cormier is 25 and Villarreal is 24.

"I think these guys can help us," Schuerholz said.

Nice trade. Aquiring 2 guys whos ERAs arent even under 5. WTF?

First of all I said his season COULD have been a fluke. Look at my original post. The main reason I say that is because Andruw's previous career high in homers before '05 was 36 so him hitting 51 was a surprise. I certainly hope he does it again next year, but it's hard to tell with Andruw.

^^He is young, and was an All Star 2 years ago. I would hope they could atleast get something better than that for him.

Looks like the Time Warner might finally sell the Braves. Please God please make this happen. Please let Ted Turner find enough money to buy them back. Man I hate time warner so much.

^ Agreed especially because where I live, we don't get turner south. I want TBS showing 100+ games like they used to (not going to happen because of the ESPN and Fox contracts, but it's okay to imagine).

I get Turner South, so it's not really a problem for me. But when I lived in Raleigh, it sucked not to have TS because they showed so many of the games on it.

There was also an article in the Atlanta paper that mentioned Arthur Blank has shown some interest in buying the Braves.

^ That would be awesome if he bought the Braves to go along with the Falcons. He has done a great job re-energizing the Falcons franchise and is not afraid to spend his Home Depot fortune to make a club better.

Still don't have a closer although Devine, Boyer, Reitsma (please no), and a new dude named Baker seemed to be the most likely candidates going into spring training.

They will do what they usually do. Use the first 50 games or so to see what they got, who works well where, etc. I imagine they will give all these guys a try at closer and see who has the most success.

Nevermind, checked atlantabraves.com

Also found this

But with Farnsworth now wearing Yankees pinstripes, the Braves will enter camp without having made a decision regarding who will be their closer. Chris Reitsma has been declared the favorite to win what will certainly be the most heated position battle in this year's camp.

If the Braves determine that Reitsma isn't the man best suited for the role, they could choose to make a trade or decide that either Joey Devine, Oscar Villarreal or Blaine Boyer is a better option

Can't wait for the season to start. Such a solid team, even moreso than last year at this time. Tim Hudson wins 21. Mark it down. Joey Devine ends the season as closer.

reitsma will be fine. He was hurt when he blew the job and he pitched too many innings. He's prepared this time. He didn't expect Kolb to suck a nut

^^^ I am trying to not troll the Mets board. I was just trying to post some random Mets news in there. As for Devine, Cox keeps talking good things about him so I really think they are planning on having him in the pen on opening day.

Jonathan Schuerholtz I think. He went to Auburn and was friends with my cousin who went there. She said he really wasn't that great in college so I have been surprised that he's been able to improve enough to get a camp invite and stick in AA and possible AAA.

^ Best catching prospect in baseball according to alot of "experts". McCann may end up like Estrada if Salt-man keeps developing.
