I don't see the lakers making the playoffs

even when kobe scores 35+ they struggle to beat top tier teams

Lakers defeat the Hawks, 103-97.

Kobe once again scores 37, keeping his season average at 36.3. And he did this while sitting out the last six minutes of the game.

I'm most impressed by the fact that he's shooting for a very good average...I want to say that he's shooting over .500 for the season. He also only committed one turnover, and that's always a good thing. (Everyone's darling, Dwyane Wade leads the league in turnovers...ha ).

C'mon three game win streak!

Lakers have struggled as of late, but at least they'll crack 80 this game...

Up by 6 after the 3rd...they should close out on the Knicks.

And the Lakers beat a good team---finally! 109-106 over Nowitski and the Mavs.

Kobe scores 43 on 15-33 shooting (respectable and much better than his 7-34 efforts).

His fadeaway 30 foot three with a hand in his face while the shot clock was running down would be the shot that put the Lakers ahead for good.

Lakers have won 4 out of 5 on their six game road trip. Go Lakers

13-10 with a six point victory last night against the Washington Wizards. Kobe had 41 on 14-24 shooting (I said that they'd consistently win as long as he shot a good percentage).

If the playoffs started right now, they'd be in. Keep riding the hot streak Lakers!

Lakers lose to the Rockets by 2...T-Mac hits the game winning layup with 0.3 left on the clock.

Lakers had this game won but blew it. Most of the Lakers shot horribly.

Kobe took 13 shots. 13 shots. He should be taking 20! If he shot more, instead of having Devean George go 2-10 or Luke Walton go 2-6 or Odom going 1-5, maybe the Lakers would've won. And Yao wasn't even playing

Oh well, here's to hope that they win the next one.

I respect you still pulling for the lakers.......I got laughed at for still being a bulls fan when they had like a 17% winning percentage.....but the lakers need another spark on their team besides kobe.....he will get tired at the end of the season and entering the playoffs.....if they make it. (Since half the nba makes it)

Kobe has 30 at half...still losing by double digits to Suns.

I still think Lakers have a better chance of getting past San Antonio than they do to get past the Suns. They're so slow...they'd get run out of the building like they are right now.

Guys did you see how the Lakers played tonight? Kobe at 38, Odum at 23, Walton with 13, Smush and Kwame chippin it around 10, and Brian Cook solid off the bench. This is how they can be successful. Walton has great vision and Odum is so hard for teams to matchup with when he plays hard, oh and Kobe Bryant is...the best. Period.

^ Lakers did beat the Clippers last night

But nonetheless, I agree, Clippers > Lakers. Clippers fans can rejoice for the next couple of years.

^^ The Lakers are capable of playing some great basketball. They're just way too inconsistent, including Kobe. If he can shoot close to 50%, the Lakers are gold. When he's shooting 9-32, they probably won't win. Smush can score 22 in one game, then go 1-9 in the next. Same goes for Odom, Walton, and Kwame. It's just a tale of two different teams.

I do think that their overall success will stem from the way they play defense. It's a lot better than last season, but the overall team speed is atrociously slow, and quick teams like the Sonics and Suns and even the Clippers in a sense would tear this team to pieces. That said, I think Phil has done an amazing job given the talent he has had, which to me still feel like a bunch of overachievers. They've played well during this stretch without Chris Mihm and his bum ankle, Kwame has stepped it up (finally), and we still have a project rookie big man who's going to be pretty good in a couple years.

Anyway, here is to the eighth seed and a matchup with the Spurs in the playoffs.

A Laker win clinches a playoff spot.

Lakers up by 23 with 6 minutes left in the first half.

I disagree, if the Lakers played a series with the Clippers, Lakers win. If Walton, Smush, and Kwame keep up their production and Kobe and Lamar conitinue to dominate, they could beat anyone.

KOBE = MVP

anyone who does not believe that is an idiot

THE LAKERS CAN MAKE NOISE IN THE PLAYOFFS

if they upset the suns, they could get the clippers in the 2nd round because the clippers are 3-1 this year against the mavs. The lakers could get past the clippers and be in the conference finals. i know its a long shot but isnt most everything
