Just a thought to keep in perspective concerning radical groups such as peta and ELF (Environmental Liberation Frontier or something like that) Most of the members and position holders in these groups are tree hugging (litterally some strap themselves in trees in Washington State and change their names to "whisper" and "Knockenwood" and hang around on harnesses all day instead of doing something a little more constructive with their lives) liberals who always, somehow link their ideas and platforms back to "personal choice and personal human rights" Like the right to have an abortion and the right to be gay etc etc You know the "if thats what they want to do then thats fine" mentality. The catch here is, and the part that I dont understand is, If a woman wants to drop 500 or a thousand or whatever on a big fur coat what "right" do they have to throw paint on it and destroy it. If that woman, say disagreed with seeing two gay guys hold hands or kiss on the bench outside her apt building, should she go down and throw gasoline on them? In the name of ummmm i dont know lets say her 6 year old son's innocense whos watching out the window? They throw paint on her coat in the name of weasles and minks. In theory "its their right" to live the lifestyle they want just like she has the "right" to wear the fur coat. Its like Everyone has to be respectful of their ideology but when it comes to someone who wears a fur coat, then respect of a right is thrown out the window. THis is good too. Think about this, ELF the way more militious and radical group to stand up and "protect the Environment" Pulls the biggest hypocracy Ive ever heard of. In the name of clean air, these grass eating hippies slink around to Hummer dealerships and set the brand new hummers on fire and burn them to destroy them. When a new ski resort was built in colorado, using I have no idea how much lumber, the little worms snuck around it at night and set the damn place on fire, biggest blaze the forest service had ever seen in colorado it burned for over a day almost. THE POINT is the smoke and burning rubber and fuel from the hummers polluted the air much more than that hummer would ever pollute driving around especially at such a gradual rate, running through a catalytic converter and the smoke from the resort being burned down good gosh im sure that was a clean burning fire. Hypocracy and double standards are synonomus with these clowns and they are rightfully seen in washington and by the FBI as "Domestic Terroists" rightly so. UPDATE, in Fortune magazine I read ia few weeks ago in a waiting room had an article on the ELF Spokesman, eric something I think is his name, he has started a vegan restaurant, no meat or dairy of any kind used. How did he start it? Parents fronted him 300,000 to get it going, wow, I always knew these guys did alot of their ranting and protesting on the basis of attacking the wealthy (i.e. fur coats, hummers, ski resorts) but man when it comes to wanting to start a restaurant, money from mom and dad (who the article mentioned were registered republicans) doesnt sound so bad after all. Oh and by the way, after the interview with FORTUNE was pressing and comming to an end in the parking lot, the Former ELF spokesman denied any more comments, as he turned the key to his brand new Toyota 4Runner. 12/2/2005 5:58:46 PM |

Fish do not feel pain the same way "higher" animals do.
Fish feel stress as a response to a stimulus. They can't suffer because they can't think about what is happening to them. They do not have the capability to experience misery like we do.
From looking at their webpage in the past, PETA likes to cite papers and marine biologists that have a reputation for being full of shit.
PETA is best ignored. They provide me with some entertainment. 12/3/2005 2:09:51 AM |
