I agree, but what is "murder"? Is the gov. killing someone not murder? Does killing this guy really do any good, other than show how primitive we are?

Some superintelligent monkey-like creature slides some metal into your vein and injects a few substances that ultimately kill you.

Sounds like murder to me.

Oh, I wasn't arguing whether or not it was deserved.

Did you not see what I said regarding that quote, asshat?

If you're going to speak out for your cause, you shouldn't sound ignorant as hell of the subject matter when you do it. Period. She didn't just look stupid to me, she looked stupid to everybody.

I am happy that justice was served. I'm not happy that justice necessitated a killing, and I'm not happy that the man put himself in that position, and I'm not happy that his two victims are dead.

I am repelled by killing in and of itself, but that does not mean that I fail to see the occasional necessity of it.

Sir, it is known that you are; the question remains as to what I am.

This is foolishness. Do you think those ten people are going to be model citizens for the rest of their days?

I really don't care that much about the death penalty. The ones that get put to death would likely spend the rest of their lives in prison otherwise, so it doesn't affect me either way.

I don't have an ounce of sympathy for convicted murderers, but at the same time I don't get any gratification from harsh punishments to those offenders. Lock 'em away forever or stick a needle in 'em, it makes no difference to me as long as they keep the costs down. Maybe we should outsource our prisons to india as a way of saving money

I suppose rolling eyes are a nice way to tap dance around the fact that it summarizes your position entirely.

"Personally I think that we as a legal system from the cops up need to work harder in the first place and then cut the number of appeals because overall I think its a waste of money there too."

Isn't throwing money at the legal system the only way we can improve it without totally overhauling it? Money is the essence of "work harder," so working harder is not going to save taxpayers' money.

And, appeals are not a waste of money if you don't want to execute innocents. People will put up with innocents being locked away more than they will put up with innocents being killed. A good example is Illinois, which released 13 death row inmates due to appeals after initial conviction, and in that same time period only executed 12 people. So Illinois would have killed twice as many, over half of them innocent, if not for the exhaustive, expensive appeals process. Hence their moratorium on the death penalty in 2000 -- quite a money-saver.
