yeah the fuel pump is used... it's my buddy's old fuel pump off his FD. It's a Denso unit, rated 215 liters/hour. I think it has about 115k on it now. I really think the problem is that the fuel pump isn't getting enough voltage. That's common on FC's. I found a write-up for rewiring it. That's a project for the semester break. Everyone I've talked to says there's no way I should be running lean with my setup, even on stock ECU.
I think I'm just going to keep the wires I've got and mess with the timing.

to me, "breaking up" at the top end just screams lack of fuel, not timing. but i dont know jack about rotarys, and wont pretend to. 12/7/2005 10:10:25 PM |

wouldn't the afr's be going lean as hell if he was running out of fuel? i would suspect something more ignition related over fuel 12/7/2005 11:02:23 PM |

i dont know, i honestly only read the last post or 5 before i posted.
ok, i read the thread title again and looked at the dyno sheet

" | I agree with this, its typically caused from being to rich or to lean. I dont think the afr' are to lean or to rich but then again I dont know rotaries. I know I had to get a hks dli to stop breaking up in the high rpms.12/7/2005 11:44:50 PM |

so why post a dyno graph in the first place? 12/8/2005 12:12:31 AM |

It's definately way leaner than it should be. That's why I suspect my fuel pump is not getting enough voltage. I upgraded my injectors and set the SAFC to +20%, just to see if it would take more fuel. AFR's hardly budged. Rx-7's typically run pig, pig rich. It's very rare for a nonturbo to actually run lean...
Timing was advanced when I went to the dyno a year ago and I didn't have any breakup problems then, but I did have a problem with it leaning out. I just figured it was the injectors or fuel pump, so I upgraded those. It seems to me that the lean condition and the breakup are separate issues.
If I can get the timing and fuel pump wiring fixed over the break I'll take it back to the dyno and see if that helped any.

I dont streetrace but I do dragrace at some local strips. It's a greddy t78, I posted up the numbers just for fun of it but this way they have no idea how much I have left in the tune. I never had any intentions of posting it up here but there was already a thread with a dyno sheet in it so I said what the fuck. I dont expect a race to happen off of this board. 12/8/2005 10:21:53 AM |

damn it this is the dumbest conversation i've heard in a while. REWIRE THE DAMN FUEL PUMP. that's nearly rule number one as soon as you throw the first mod on an FC. they're about as bad as dsm's for voltage drops. 12/8/2005 10:52:25 AM |

Lean conditions and detonation are hardly ever a problems on an N/A so it wasn't the first thing I did. It will definately be going down over the break though. 12/8/2005 5:25:17 PM |

see but anyone with any knowledge will know whats left in a t-78
easily enough to have them seeing your tail lights in most cases.
is it a greddy ?
cause greddy and garrett number completely different greddy t-78 roughly equals t-66 garrett 12/8/2005 9:04:35 PM |

It is a greddty t78 which to my understanding is more like a t67. Im going to a gt42r sometime in the spring or early summer, should be interesting.

yeah.. now a gt42r is a serious fucking turbo
i know someone who has one for sale but i doubt you'd want a t6 flange on it.
hahahah that and the a/r is 1.15
i bet the y2k would work well too. (if not better they seem to like smaller motors better)

true, but voltage drops at the pump from poor wiring are common with FC's. it won't pose any issue to a stock motor, but shows up with mods. i'm betting that's your problem, and i'd fix it asap.12/9/2005 4:30:26 PM |

im trying to stray away from the the t6 just for the fact of hood clearance. 12/9/2005 5:28:01 PM |

yeah you might want to look into turbonetics y2k (they also provide better compressor maps) 12/9/2005 5:32:16 PM |
