without reading the topic:

Nothing pisses me off more than when a car that's already moving comes to a start so I can cross in front of it. It takes at most a second for that car to cross while it takes at least several seconds for the car to stop and the pedestrain to move, and longer for the pedestrian to cross. Seriously, it's like I get road rage as a pestedrian--cursing and everything.

theres a new law about turning right on red

if there is a pedestrian waiting to cross the street or if they are approaching the interesection you may not turn right on red. If caught its 4pts on the license.

i bike to work and to school and it gets real fucking tired to always

1) get flicked off for taking up the lane, especially when biking with friends and there are 2 lanes per side of the road, where it is perfectly reasonable to pass
2) get doored by somebody who doesn't look when getting out of their car from parallel parking
3) have people speed pass yelling "get a car", even though i have one myself

and no, i'm not going to concede my right to ride on the road, especially when it is much quicker
to bike places than to drive through the hellhole called campus.

and bikes, as traffic, have every right to ride on main roads, especially if it is quicker than going thru a billion back streets.

and i pay attention to traffic laws.

Isn't there some law that says you can get a ticket for driving too slow? What is it, like 10 or so miles below the speed limit? I mean, that's for in a car, but if you clsssify both bikes and cars as vehicles, then what?

Besides, both types do not obey traffic laws, hell I know I don't sometimes. We all just need to get along. Cars aren't going anywhere and neither are bikes. (Just don't ride your damn bike on Trailwood huffing and puffing up the hills going negative 5 miles per hour, and we'll be okay.) Thanks.

"Think of when there are cars queued up at a light. Does the bicyclist stop right behind the car of wherever they happen to be at the time the light turns red? Like a vehicle that supposedly takes up a full lane (or even a motorcycle) should? No, the weave their way to the front of the line. You know what this does? It means that the same grouping of cars is going to be stuck behind the same 15mph bicyclist when the light turns green. They will have to pass him again and again and again.

I've seen (and been tempted to do it myself) people do the "pinch off manuver". They get tired of passing the same guy every block so they just stop as close to the curb as possible at the next light. That pretty much forces the bicyclist to stop behind cars like they should.

Sometimes they do not even stop for the stop signs and red lights. They want to be protected like a vehicle but they don't want to follow the sames rules."

in england, at intersections they have a line where cars are supposed to stop, and then a line in front of it where bikers are supposed to stop. then again, they also have actual good-sized bike lanes, so it's a lot friendlier there for cyclists overall.

unless they changed it within the past several years its not a national law, it is decided by the state DMV under what conditions your lights must be on.

Virtually every cyclist I've seen in the last two years has been a rolling infraction-commiting factory. Ignoring every light and sign, ignoring pedestrians, lane-splitting. If I had a 4x4 truck I'd be taking these fuckers out just to see their crippled asses twitching in agony on the pavement. The discussion regarding cyclists rights can't begin until after the discussion regarding cyclists inability to conform to the traffic laws is concluded. Yeah, it sucks that you have to come to a complete stop at the light at the bottom of the hill. It sucking doesn't mean you can pretend you don't have to, though. If you have a problem with the realities of cycling, BY ALL MEANS, GET BACK IN YOUR FUCKING CAR AND QUIT FUCKING UP THE ROADS FOR EVERYBODY ELSE YOU COCKSUCKING LITTLE FAIRY.

What really blows my mind is when some idiot takes his bike through the middle of the road, with traffic in two directions on either side of him, trying to get ahead for his left turn. I think it should be legal to side-swipe idiots like that, from either lane, and all damages to all vehicles should be the responsibility of the cyclist, for being a MOTHER FUCKING IDIOT.

[Edited on December 10, 2005 at 7:15 AM. Reason : Cyclists need no legal protection: they'll do what-the-fuck-ever they want and fuck everybody else]

even though I'm pretty sure its an alias, I like this Gimmick guy.

Plastic bumpers are the ticket though. I've tried it out with shopping carts. I can hit them doing like 25 and just push the dent out afterwards. Looks like new

As a cyclist who "commutes" from Wolf Village to class and back every day it pisses me off to no end to see these douche bag bikers who:
1. Ride down the wrong side of the street because the sidewalk is full.
2. Ride down the middle of the double yellow.
3. Refuse to yield at a light.

Sure we may have the right to ride on the road, but you will never see me on Hillsboro St. I may have the right of way, but I really don't want to be "dead right." Besides there is a perfectly good, WIDE sidewalk.

I think that if you're breaking traffic laws on a bike, it should be totally legal to have your ass run over. In fact, you should get rewarded for taking these dumbasses off the road. They make everyone who rides a bike look bad.
