was posted early in the thread...you look at the number of xbox's and assume that they will hand out tickets for the number they have...

there were 24 in burlington and i was #17 in line (at 12am)...so i got an xbox360 and several other people just sold their spots in line to late parents and junk...

all of the quantities are posted there and it has nothing to do with inventory management for best buy or anywhere else...it's microsoft undershipping units intentionally to spike demand (imo)

No actually they intentially undershipped North American units to spur demand.

The system is sweet as hell but has bugs. I'll probably end up picking one up in feb. and avoiding the hassle.

Still haven't hooked ours up...i still have mine pre-ordered from EB...so hopefully it won't be as bad. I had horrible luck with my old Xbox always locking up or thinking the discs were scratched and crashing mid-game.

Well, if there are 1000 people in a city the size of Raleigh that just have to buy an Xbox now and they only ship 200 in the first shipment after the dust settles there are still 800 die-hards that want to buy one. If there are only 200 more in the second shipment then you still have 800 people fighting over 200 Xboxes. Your post pretty much said... If you can't ship all 800 you might as well not ship any... hence the idiot claim.

It sounds like many of you guys haven't read the reviews for the games. The general consensus for just about all of the EA Sports games is that they just wanted something to put out at launch, and that's just about what you're getting. Something.

You can download free demos of Madden, FIFA, and NBA Live from Xbox Live and that should tell you if it is worth buying. Basically most of the reviews I read said that unless you were a hardcore fan of the series none of the games were worth dropping $60 on. They all recommend waiting until next years versions which will have all of the normal polish that you would expect from an EA Sports game.

Personally I am a pretty hardcore Tiger Woods fan, but after reading the reviews and looking at the screenshots, I'm content to sit on my Xbox versions for another year. There just isn't nearly enough new content there to justify an extra $20 IMO, much less $60. And the same thing can be said across the board for pretty much so all of the EA Sports games.

That said... I saw it at a target display and I wasn't impressed... even if they did have it on the most terrible display I've ever seen.

multiplatform games generally look alike on all consoles. It helps development. In the case of 360, the game appears too dark even on HDTV monitors. Definitely the developer's fault, but still.
