This brings up another point: if all someone does is comment on how nice/expensive/difficult something is then it loses its appeal. The more natural you react with something the more confident and classy you look. Plus, what is the point of going all-out for someone if all you are gonna do is bitch or brag about it. Of course overdoing it is just as bad (Once watched a guy sniff the cork, swirl his glass, sniff and spit-test his wine before accepting at Outback... give me a fucking break the bottle is like $5 at Food Lion. Don't be that guy.)
I would think Rocky Top restaurants like Bogart's and Michael Dean's have really good New Years events at a decent price.12/24/2005 12:01:18 AM |

you fucking loser, I frequent places on glenwood, have a country club membership, and did I mention I pull more ass than you AND drive a mercedes?
I'm guessing you're one of those broke, loser, art-fag types that have always hated on settling for the ugly stupid girls who think its cool to eat at some hole in the wall place so you dont have to sit in a restaurant with awesome people like me and feel all sad for yourselves, you fucking losers
P.S. I found a baller place for V-day 2/8/2006 12:22:38 PM |

i never understood spending a ton of money at a restaurant. I can go someplace like outback or on the border and spend like 20 bucks on me and the girl and be completely satisfied. just seems like a waste to spend the kind of money that ppl do on food (over 100 or even 200 dollars on a meal for 2). i mean if thats what you like by all means do what you want i just never got it really 2/8/2006 1:01:08 PM |

I get blackout wasted and buy the most expensive bottle of bubbly at the bar and chug that shit, I have no memory how it tastes
sadly however, I have significantly curtailed my drinking

^ That's really not accurate, IMO.
^^ I feel ya man. The most I'll spend is about $50/couple and that's for crazy occasions (remember now, I'm in college...prices may vary with income)
Otherwise it becomes a waste to me. 2/8/2006 1:04:54 PM |

You just have to like food. There are meals that I've had that blew my mind. The kind of meals that literally make you stutter when you try to explain them. The most I have ever spent on a meal is $220 but usually its just around $100-$120 for a nice dinner. The 220 was just Ruth's Chris, nothing special. Wine is what drives prices up, but its so worth it. Its like a form of entertainment. SOme drop cash on tons of cd's, video games, concerts, liquor, tech gadgets, designer clothes, guns, car mods, etc. and some people like good food. I'd rather not eat out for a few weeks and spent the saved cash on one killer meal, thats just me.2/8/2006 10:38:19 PM |

i think it is awesome you want to impress your gf. shows you care. just remember food quality doesn't increase linearly with $$$. i've been to some fairly pricey places and been thoroughly unimpressed (ruth's chris for ex..... outback does a better job on their steaks imo). in the same breath, i've also been to some cheap places that were just plain awesome! don't worry about how much you are going to have to spend. don't worry about it's name and how cool it is to eat there. she is more interested in spending time alone with you anyway (or if she's not, you best run away fast). go for what you can afford. the most romantic thing my husband ever did was cook for me. on our first v-day together, he grilled steaks, made me a cake with heart confestions on it, put out his nice linens (ehe he actually went out and bought them the day before) and candles, and gave me some godiva chocolates. i'd rather 10 of those nights to one at my fav. restaurant (emeril's BTW). 2/15/2006 1:04:05 PM |
