as always, incredible show \m/sucks that dark tranquillity cancelled, but i've already seen them and DTB and Opeth got to play longer, so it all works out. 3rd time I've seen Opeth, and it was as incredible as I could have expected. and it was fucking AWESOME that they played Under the Weeping Moon from Orchid, I had resigned to the fact that I'd never hear anything from Orchid or Morningrise live. great showbtw, if you saw the big guy up on the rail toward the left with the big afro, that was me...got in the mosh pit for the last 3 songs, so you might have seen me there[Edited on February 16, 2006 at 1:09 AM. Their set really wasnt any longer than it normally is. They still need to play more of their older stuff.Nevertheless, it was still an incredible show.

as good as Opeth was, I can't say that it was worth me coming all the way from Charlotte...the main reason I say that is because I could NOT breathe the entire fucking show because of how hot and smoke-infested that place wasand seriously, moshing for Opeth? fuck rednecks who don't know shit about metal and shout "play freebird" at any point during a metal band's set...I will kill the next motherfucker that I catch saying that unoriginal and entirely unfunny bullshitI wanted to see DT real bad too, so that is also part of it...I had seen all three bands before, but DT is a lot of fun.so yeah, I was wearing my Skinless hoodie, but only for the first hour until it got too hot...no one could possibly recognize the "The End" shirt I had on under because even I can hardly read the text...oh well[Edited on February 16, 2006 at 3:41 AM. Man I couldn't see anyone that I reconized, you guys must have all been up front in that crowd before the bands started playing, or I'm blind. I had a black shirt that said "Incredible Pizza" on the front and back. The mosh in the back right side of the floor during "Drapery Falls" knocked my ass over and my shoe came off
2/16/2006 9:44:24 AM
i was quite excited that they play grand conjuration. i like that song. the set was not as long as i expected. it was way to freaking hot in there. it was nice to meet metal red. and fin, you need to work on your facial recognition skills...what are the odds!?!
2/16/2006 10:05:30 AM
Heh, events like last night are probably the only ones where im not easily picked out of a crowd[Edited on February 16, 2006 at 11:37 AM. Reason : ]

the red head was my friend's wife. i don't know what the hell was going on there.
2/16/2006 12:24:27 PM
everyone is talking about their outfits like opeth was the grammy's of metal
2/16/2006 12:25:03 PM
Tell your friend's wife that me and my girlfriend were rooting for her.
2/16/2006 12:49:40 PM
this was my first opeth show and it was awesome except the 100° heat and that joke of an "extended set"i want a $5 refund
2/16/2006 1:31:06 PM
they played almost 2 hours thoughand i owe you $1.50
2/16/2006 1:37:52 PM
they played for like an hour and a half right? I wasn't paying close enough attention since it took like 67 hours for them to actually come out after everything was set up.I liked the DT Band, but it did get a little old after about 5 songs.
2/16/2006 1:56:22 PM
I enjoyed the Devin Townsend Band a lot. Picked up Synchestra at the merch table after the gig, and it's been kicking my ass ever since. It definitely seems like one of those albums that grows on you.Steve Vai does a solo in the song "Triumph" as well....

paerabol, are you in this picture? I think I also saw MetalRed, but the nigga kinda sticks out, soooo...
2/16/2006 8:27:42 PM
god metalheads are ugly.
2/16/2006 8:39:15 PM
warning: lots of words to follow
2/16/2006 8:39:18 PM
ahahahah yes, in that picture I am the guy at the bottom left with all the hair and doing something funky with my hands out in front of methat pic must have been right near the end, because I think the only time i was back that far and right was when i lost my balance in the mosh pit and kinda bowled into the crowd in that directionyou can kinda see the back of my head in the very bottom right of this picture, but you have to look real hard because my hair blends in with the shadows...top of my head is near the bottom of the guitarist's amp head [Edited on February 16, 2006 at 8:53 PM. Reason : Ian, where were you? I never saw you there]
2/16/2006 8:42:34 PM
DT put me to fucking sleep. i'm serious... with the exception of the first and last songs, i felt like i listened to static (which wasn't helped by them cranking everything to eleven). i was just behind the pit, on the first railing, and i sat down and nodded in and out for their whole set.
2/16/2006 9:06:31 PM
2/16/2006 10:31:10 PM
were you one of the guys that lit up a lighter to help me find my glasses when that chick tried to tear my face off?
2/16/2006 11:12:30 PM
no...I didn't see all that happen. Were they fucked up?
2/16/2006 11:27:01 PM
2/16/2006 11:47:39 PM
ah, yeah...hearing "FREEEBIIIIIIRD" at every goddamn show i go to, metal or otherwise, gets fucking old. it might have been funny the first couple times/two decades, but damn
2/16/2006 11:50:35 PM
no, it was NEVER funny and I hate every single person that has ever said that...I no longer have tolerance for people that don't acknowledge when something is so horribly played outanyway, I am seeing a better show Saturday
2/16/2006 11:51:45 PM
http://rapidshare.de/files/13430475/closure.mp3.htmlA recording of Closure from last night. I am in the process of trying to get the rest of the bootleg
2/16/2006 11:55:25 PM
closure was fucking incredible....ax did VERY well on the drumsi'm extremely sorry that Lopez isn't doing so well, but Ax is doing a pretty good job filling init was kinda funny when he didnt know when to come back in during one of the interludes in Under the Weeping Moon, Akerfeldt kept nodding at him to come back in and he finally did...but I can't blame him, I can't remember where that comes back in most of the time either.[Edited on February 16, 2006 at 11:59 PM. 2/16/2006 11:59:22 PM
I missed all but the last 3 songs of DT band....for the first half of opeth's set, i was dead center, right behind the pit. After Deliverance ended, i got tired of sweating my balls off and moved back toward the bar area.
