I own a Tauras PT-92 which is a Beretta 92FS clone. Mine shoots very well and is fairly accurate. From what I understand, Taurus bought the tools from a Beretta plant in Brazil and still uses them to make the clones (with a few small revisions over the years such as the Taurus trigger lock.)
The only other Taurus that I've shot was a 9mm semi-auto that was so far off you had to aim about a foot to the right to hit something 10-15 feet away. The guy paid $300 for it and it was brand new. It had never been dropped or anything. The sites were not adjustable, so he was basically screwed.
From the other horror stories I've heard I think they have some quality control issues and I probably wouldn't recommend anything from them except the Beretta clones.
I've got three Beretta 92 15-round magazines if anyone wants to buy them at a fair price. They are the cheap stamped steel aftermarket magazines and I only use the factory ones now. One of them occassionally jams with hollowpoints, but the other two have never failed me. I'll toss in the one that jams for free if anyone buys the other two.

I'm looking at getting a pistol in the near future, but I cant find the handgun permit application online. The Wake County Sheriff's Office site online says nothing about exactly where you get the permit application http://www.rtpnet.org/~wcso/pistol.html
For Guilford County you can download the pistol permit application online, print it, then take it in to the Guilford County Sheriff.
Is this the place? (this is mentioned under the Concealed Permit section of their website)

I have a 5 shot Taurus .38 special. It shoots great - a friend of mine actually used it to certify for his CCWP and shot a tighter group than I did with my Beretta 92FS - of course, thats mostly my fault.1/24/2006 1:54:32 PM |

Even those clones have quality control problems. Small-caliber Taurus revolvers seem to be pretty solid, though.1/24/2006 10:17:29 PM |

EAA Witness, 9mm/.40/.45. If you shop around, you can probably snag one at/below $300. 2/9/2006 5:08:33 PM |
