Crank/cam sensor is built into the base of the distributor on that one. Uses an optical sensor style.

And yeah, it's got MAP, not MAF, and they really hardly ever go bad.

I was told today at advance auto on Western Blvd while buying an air filter that it was the catalytic converter. He said that it was stopped up and would work fine to a certain rpm. Makes a little sense however then he said it could be the transmission and lost all his credibility.

There's a reason most of the guys at Advance are working at a parts store and not a garage.

Actually could be the exhaust. Maybe you have a dead rat in your exhaust. I just want it to be a dead rat so bad.

well thats easy enough to diagnose, disconnect the exhaust pipe at the cat and try it

its gonna be loud, but if it revs up like it should, theres your problem

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. Haven't had time to do that yet. You think that it will be rusted sealed or that with some work it could be unscrewed?

Oh it will be rusty, that's for damn sure. Soak it and have breaker bar readily available. I broke a 6pt 14mm socket about 3 weeks ago doing this.

Tell me about it. I have a large air compressor and a slew of tools in Spring Hope. My grandfather owned a service center and had a shop built at his house before he passed away. I'll have to wait a week or so before I'll be able to get there and used the stuff that I need. Kinda embarrassed about the other day. Didn't have a floor jack and had to end up using a 10 ton hydraulic floor jack. It was too large with the brackets on it and so I took them off and only had a flat no hooked surface under the car. Which was fine to replace the axel, I had jack stands under the car at that point.
When I went to lower the jack I hooked the air back up and you have to raise it a little before you can lower it becuase it settles in slots. This jack has a malfunction now and then.
As I hit the lever to make it go up, it took off going up quickly from 1.5 foot off the ground to 5 foot off the ground and it ripped the bumper up and off and broke all the lights in the front. Such a fucking mess. I stood there in shock as I saw this happen and there was nothing that I could have done to stop it.

as an update on the car not revving over 3500 rpm when the check engine light comes on. Changed the o2 censor... code was 4 8 and that was o2 censor I was told... Changed o2, changed fuel filter, changed spark plugs, changed oil, took off cat and made sure it wasn't clogged even drilled a hole all the way through with a 3 foot by 1 inch drill bit... still sometimes the car starts rough and the check engine light comes on and won't allow the car to go over 3500 rpm and sometimes it cranks right up and lets me go wide open if I wish..

does anyone know what the hell is wrong with this stupid car??//

You're saying sometimes the car starts up fine and revs over 3500 RPM and the CEL stays off, while other times the CEL comes on and the car will not rev past 3500?

yes... there's been times where I thought that it was fixed... but a crank or two later... cel is on and car won't rev past 3500... don't think there's anything else I can replace...

take it to a honda shop, they have most likely seen this behavior before and know how to fix it.
