when we block a shot we should have everyone wave their arms up and down in a blocking motion. it'd be like a sea of arms there to remind the player that his shot was just blocked. i think what VT does in football on 4th down looks awesome, and imagine if something similar was adapted for just this situation.

yeah chanting stuffed/blocked with the arm motion would be pretty cool. i think it'd be cool to have a chant that starts out on the SWPC side yelling "N!" and jump in the air, then it proceed to the right and that side of the student section jump once and yell "C!" then it continues to the right to the other sideline area and they jump and yell "S!" and it end at the other end yelling "Uuuu!" it would just proceed in a circle, and the reason for the one quick jump would to produce a loud thud sound on the aluminum flooring underneath the seats. i know when i was at BC they used the aluminum stands to create more noise by stomping. i think it'd be a good way to amp up the atmosphere, even if it was done only before the game started. here's the student section seating chart to help you picture it.

I like that idea alot ^

mostly the getting everyone to jump at the exact same time... it would look pretty cool if it could be timed well. Especially say for free throws... if the section behind the shooter all stood silent and still until he went up to release and then everyone jumped and yelled all at once... the noise change would throw me off

it seems it would be harder to shoot free throws with your home crowd dead silent rather then crowd noise you can block out

the only problem with the N, C, S, U thing is it is awfully similar to clemson. I know at least at their football games they go to different sections around the stadium in a circle chanting C-L-E-M-S-O.... N!

it's pretty impressive with the size of their football stadium.. and everyone really gets into it

it would also be cool if during the Wolf!.... Pack! cheer back and forth if the students all jumped. Think about half the stadium all jumping and yelling wolF! and then the other does it yelling pack!

it would be good if the U was extended to give it the sound of an echo. like the way a boo from the crowd lasts a second or two longer. also we (the students) have used the hockey boards pretty well, but i'd like for us to also use the aluminum flooring underneath our feet. some of the students caught on during the FSU game last year at one point and it got really loud in there. like i mentioned when i was at BC they used the aluminum stands to create a rumbling sound that echoed throughout the stadium. i was pretty impressed.

You could sing our tailgating group's version of the fight song:

Over hills, over streams, we do nothing but fight and drink
As the Wolfpack keeps rolling along
Cooking pig, drinking beer and we'll do it all the year
As the Wolfpack keeps rolling along
Raise up that beer and bring the Wolfpack Cheer
Shout out for dear ole NC State, Go State
Raise up that glass, and Wolfpack kick some ass
As the Wolfpack keeps rolling along.

We were bored and drunk one night before a game....what can I say.

with the way the students are dispersed throughout the arena, it would be difficult to make any noise much louder than wake forest...

^ i'm not sure i get this statement. we have one of the best student section setups in all the land. you could only say that duke and maryland's are better, and maryland's isn't even a complete ring due to the press row in the corner. then we have basically a wall of sound with the one side that has student seating all the way up and in the third deck right behind that section. 2300 student seats reside in the lower bowl, and another 700 reside in the third deck. i'm not completly sure about the number in the upper deck, but i was for sure that there was a total of 3000 seats for students.

well, maybe its a combination of the placement of students and the layout of the arena. i know students line the courtside of the rbc with the twc, but it still looks like only a few rows of students. to me, nothing about the rbc looks like a 'hostile' environment...i guess i'm an old schooler and will always want to play in reynolds, and will always be against the rbc...

plus 3000 students spread out the way they are amongst most alumni sitting (and i doubt if all the students are ranting and raving in the upper deck) is a small number compared to the number that the rbc center holds. its tough to imagine 3000 electrifying a crowd....

I can suggest it, but do you think it would catch on with the other three student areas? It might be a good idea to get sports marketing to include it on a cheer sheet for a future game...but do the cheer sheets get put in all the student sections?

maybe we could just plant some people in all of the sections to get it started, and the rest of the students will catch on.

i think it'd be cooler to start at the bottom of that diagram

Do the N, C, S, and then the last section is the largest amount of students and they yell "UUUUU!"

that way the loudest part is last

well i thought it'd be good for it to start with the SWPC b/c they'd be more organized, but if we could get the cheerleaders to make some signs and become a part of it it could be easily done that way. i think some of the guy cheerleaders live in my building. i'll mention it to them if i see them.

This is on the SWPC website:

Quote :
"
Cheer Sheets for Men's Basketball
The SWPC Board and Wolfpack Sports Marketing need your help this basketball season. This season, as we do every season, we are creating Cheer Sheets for each home game. These are designed to get all of the fans together in unison, and make the RBC Center one of the most intimidating places to play in the nation. We need new material for the Cheer Sheets. Got the inside scoop on a visiting player? Or a new chant the cheer the Wolfpack to victory? We want to hear them. Send your ideas to Mike Odom at mike_odom@ncsu.edu . Make sure to put ‘Wolfpack Cheer Idea’ in the subject line and include which game(s) they are for. If we use your cheer, you will receive a prize courtesy of Sports Marketing. The remaining home games are as follows:
1/14 vs. Georgia Tech
1/21 vs. Wake Forest
1/25 vs. Seton Hall
2/1 vs. Virginia
2/5 vs. Maryland
2/15 vs. Florida State
2/22 vs. UNC
2/25 vs. Boston College
Please have all entries in 48 hours before the game, or if it is a weekend game, by noon the Friday before the game. And remember, this is a family even, so keep them clean.

how do you like a cheer for when the ref is calling some bs call, we call the zebras jackasses. it should be something original. none of this clap, clap...clap, clap, clap stuff. i was inspired by the Budweiser commercial where the zebra is looking at the film of the clydesdales feet to make a call.

hey i sent the idea to the Mike Odom guy, and i did modify it so that it would end with the UUU! in the large section, as suggested.

^Mike Odom is the director of sports marketing and he is the one who does the organizing of the cheer sheets. I did it last year with his help, but this year sports marketing took it over for the SWPC. I think that this ideal would be awesome if it really happened. If you remember last season the cheerleaders tried to start a cheer like this where it was we...are..nc...state. But that was horible, this one would work great. Anyways, let me know if you need more info about the cheer sheets or anything, I can get in touch with him. I think if the cheerleaders had the letters and were in each section it would cacth on. Good luck and lets follow through on this one, it can work.

The best thing to do for anygame is get there early and give the other team grief while warming up.

yeah when i heard the We...Are...NC...State chant i was like dammit we are not copying Penn State, who were the ones that started it. but they do it like the way we do Wolf..Pack. Also ND and SoCal copied them.
