kris kross for me too, but i got 2 copies of it. it was my birthday and i had a party, and i received two copies of it from different people. i didnt want it, so not only did i get 1 tape i didnt want, but i got it twice. it was a sad 10th bday.

my dad bought a cd player in the early-mid 80s

there's no way i could say what my first was, but I remember (and this was obviously WAY after when i would have had my first casette) that I had a dubbed from cd copy of blink 182 dude ranch. I played the tape so much it broke, so I had to open it up and tape it back together with scotch tape.

^^^I listened to the radio, and taped my own music from it. I didn't get into the new music scene for a while. Or at least popular music. I think I owned some Christian music on tape, like the WOW albums, before that.
