cummins is developing a v6 diesel for the small truck & suv market and a v8 for the light duty truck and full size suv. the new 6.7l i6 for the 3/4 ton and larger trucks should be available in a couple of years.

imagine either a hemi w/ dod or a v6 turbo diesel in a 4 door wrangler w/ removable hard top.

http://www.osti.gov/fcvt/deer2005/stang.pdf

a 2.5l td is planned for the wrangler though.

Quote :
"The next-generation Wrangler will become upscale, with improved safety features and more content. Engine choices will include a 2.4-liter four-cylinder and a 3.7-liter V-6. Rumored for the four-door Wrangler only is an optional 5.7-liter Hemi V-8. Jeep reportedly will offer buyers a choice of five-speed automatic and six-speed manual transmissions.

sublime.. im sure the only reason for the optional hemi is due to the fact that it's bigger and heavier

the new jeeps are ugly... and the 4 door models are even worse..
