Not a Seahawk fan, just like a fair game. I can't really do anything about being called a whiny bitch. I'd like to keep my job, but nice that you say that to me on a message board behind the monitor.
Ya know, I'm going to try to play club football in the fall if we get a team together. Maybe I am a little whiny bitch. Maybe you can knock the ever-lovin' shit out of me. I'd like to play WR or DB. Should be some nice opportunities to find out if the old man has anything.
Amazes me the lack of class most people in this world have. I make a post, right or wrong, and someone says shut the fuck up. If I said the game was fixed in a real conversation, would you tell me to shut the fuck up?
I honestly don't know if game was fixed or not. I know it was horribly officiated and Seahawks got robbed of any chance to win the game. I honestly do believe the refs were on the take, but can't prove it. I think its naive to think that theres no way this could possibly happen, as most here seem to. Just close your eyes and pretend stuff like this never happens. 2/6/2006 2:16:16 AM |

i mean i understand what youre saying
but youre pretty much alone in this entire thread
i skimmed and didnt see any agreements from anyone
i watched the game half-assedly
watched all the replays
and i didnt see anything wrong at all
and i'm the fucking replay king
perhaps you should just go back and check out all these plays youre bitching about
and make sure you have someone who is well-versed in the nfl rulebook with you
im not going to sit here and call you a fucking idiot or anything like that
im in a good mood right now
but seriously, when everyone in a thread is like "you dont know what youre talking about"
then you probably dont know what youre talking about 2/6/2006 2:26:54 AM |

Seems like there are at least 3,000 other people that agree with me so far. I don't know who started this "petition" but it wasn't me. 2/6/2006 9:13:47 AM |

Wow. An online petition?
Hello, Credibility!
Maybe instead of pointing all your fingers at the refs you should point a couple at your shitty TE. 2/6/2006 9:18:21 AM |

Not a Seahawk fan. I'm a FOOTBALL fan. I don't like J Stevens but he caught one TD and set up another, until the ref called the phantom hold.
I won't keep arguing. If you know anything about football, its pretty easy to see. This is a fairly ignorant crowd here.
I do like the way that an online petition has no credibilty but the precious wolfweb apparently does. 2/6/2006 10:58:22 AM |

thought occured to me as i was driving this morning
maybe the refs subconsciously were over compensating for the bad calls in the Indy game--they are human after all. and obviously it was different officials at this game than that onne, but i get the feeling that the entire corps or refs got an earful before the SB making calls. 2/6/2006 11:28:18 AM |

You'll notice the official tried to throw his flag, but grabbed something else and threw it before he could get to his flag.

The only really bad call was the holding call on Locklear. Replays more or less showed there was no penalty there. But then again, he did graduate from NC State, so I can't blame the ref for assuming The offensive pass interfence was the right call, I just wish he'd called it a bit sooner. 2/6/2006 11:59:48 AM |

By the way, blame the Seahawks kicker for taking 6 points off of the board and giving Pittsburgh great field position on two drives and the Seahawks for lousy clock management at the end of the second half and the end of the game. Absolutely horrible. No need to blame the officials. 2/6/2006 12:02:22 PM |

Not to mention blame them for not defending a trick play the Steelers have run at least twice this season that I can remember. Every person in the room with me knew Randle El was gonna throw that ball the moment it got into his hands. 2/6/2006 12:07:57 PM |

that's the jist of it. whether the game was or wasn't "fixed" there's no possible way you can over come it with those errors. they shot themselves in the foot.2/6/2006 12:13:43 PM |

They were 50 and 54 yard field goals. It's not like he was trying to knock in chip shots or anything.2/6/2006 12:34:26 PM |

It was a back up safety in the game for an injury that had just happened... he was the one who blew the coverage and bit on the trick.2/6/2006 1:00:23 PM |

man this is steelers bandwagon central. There were some calls that shouldnt have been made in the game. The Jackson "push" wasnt a push it was just putting his hands there to see where the defender was, Moss and Rice did it on every TD. And it seemed like to me that every big play the Seahawks had was offsetted by a penalty. And that call on Hasselbeck for the chop block was pathetic bc he missed. I would be very pissed if i was a seahawks fan. 2/6/2006 2:09:17 PM |

This is kinda all over ESPN.com, so I don't think it is just one person bitching about the refs. I don't like either team, but Seattle did get fucked 2/6/2006 3:52:46 PM |

Um that game was horribly officiated and the Seahawks DEFINITELY got fucked by the refs on multiple occasions.
I dont think the game was "fixed", but I definitely subscribe to the fact that the refs ultimately had a big part in the outcome.
You are nuts if you think the Seahawks got a fair shake in that game. 2/7/2006 7:18:07 PM |

Quote : | "What the experts are saying about the Super Bowl officiating
Ron Jaworski, former Eagles quarterback and ESPN analyst: "Clearly the fact that we're talking about the officiating the day after the Super Bowl doesn't bode well for Mike Pereira and the referees up on Park Avenue. I think they need to address this situation. It has been inconsistent all season long, magnified in the Super Bowl. I think it's about time the NFL looks to use full-time officials. Just like everyone else is committed to making the game better, I think we need the officials to make that full-time commitment."
Michael Irvin, former Cowboys wide receiver and ESPN analyst: "There were some bad calls. Yes, they were wrong. Some touchy calls. I don't think Darrell Jackson -- especially playing wide receiver -- I don't think he gained anything by extending his arm. I don't think there was a holding (call on Locklear). But the thing is, when I think about Seattle, even with all those calls, they still had that game."
Tom Jackson, former Broncos linebacker and ESPN analyst: "The reality is that the officiating has not been great the entire year. I think that there was the risk -- whether it was Seattle or anybody else -- that the officiating for the game could be flawed. And unfortunately for the Seahawks, the calls that went against them were all huge calls and as we look back now -- hindsight being 20-20 -- you saw that those calls could have gone a different way."
Tony Kornheiser, Washington Post columnist on ESPN's "Pardon the Interruption": "If you were one of these people who felt that it was predestined for Pittsburgh to win. That somehow the fix was in. That with all the great stories about Jerome Bettis, and yada-yada-yada, that everybody in the NFL and everybody on the televising crew wanted Pittsburgh to win, you'd be able to wake up this morning screaming about that."
Woody Paige, ESPN's "Around the Horn": "The officials just continued the ineptness we saw throughout the playoffs. Why can't they get it right? Ben Roethlisberger, he still hasn't gotten that ball over the goal line. The offensive interference call on the Seattle touchdown, that was a ticky-tack call. Both guys were pushing a little bit."
Qadry Ismail, ESPNews: "The referees in the entire playoffs -- it wasn't just this game -- were kind of some questionable calls. I know that we have the best referees that graded out throughout the entire year. For them to come in to the playoffs to make those key, critical mistakes and then in the Super Bowl you'll still see the same, repeated mistakes."
Kevin Blackistone, Dallas Morning News on ESPN's "Around the Horn": "Now let's stop this whining going on with the Seattle fans. The litmus test for this is the fact when you talk to the Seattle Seahawks after the game, they didn't talk about the referees. They talked about problems they had of their own making."
J.A. Adande, Los Angeles Times on ESPN's "Around the Horn": "The officiating contributed to the outcome. It did not determine the outcome. The bottom line is Seattle still had the ball in the fourth quarter with a chance to take the lead and Hasselbeck threw that interception. Yeah. There were some questionable things. I've never seen a holding call where a guy only uses one hand. I don't even know if it's possible to hold a defender with one hand. They did call that. They were blowing things all night. But Seattle, the Seahawks were the ones blowing things even worse."
Jay Mariotti, Chicago Sun-Times on ESPN's "Around the Horn": "When Kelly Herndon intercepts that ball and runs it back, I thought Seattle was going to win the football game. And all those calls pretty much came before that so you can't sit here and say Seattle lost because of the penalties."
