I think there is a lot to be said in finishing on top of the ACC conference in regular season standings. it doesn't bring anything to the table besides the top seed in the ACC tourney, but it speaks a lot about performance over the whole regular season. even a shitty team can get real hot and win a tournament, but that is definitely not true for the regular season.

the point is: settling for second place in regular season standings is an absolutely defeated way to look at things, which is not what jimmy v would do.
