There was a thread a while back where someone linked to another board where someone had gone to Dubai and taken photos of cars that he had seen on the road. I remember seeing a Zonda in one of those photos.

0-60 3.6 seconds (car and driver. mercedes lists it at 4.5)

the zonda f is faster than that, and a lot faster to 120

Benz automatics have the best 60ft times of any factory vehicle. Id bet any supercar with a manual transmission would lose in that area.

sl600 is exactly the same 3.6 as zonda to 60mph. same ok? it is 4500lb car vs 2700lb comparison with 2700lb having 100 more hp. taking that into consideration zonda is pretty fucking slow. you would expect that 2000lb difference would at least make it vastly faster. this is just regular stock sl600 built for masses. im not even comparing sl65, which is probably capable of better numbers.
i purposely said stock benz is faster because there was nothing impressive about 2700lb car with gigantic 7.3l engine and 600hp making those acceleration numbers.

not to mention the Mercedes uses a HIGHLY electronic automatic transmission. If the Zonda launch was computer controlled I garauntee it would be in the 3sec flat arena 0-60.

There are SO many reasons why 0-60 times are completely fucking irrelevent for RWD supercars at this point, it's not even funny. You are making a fucking stupid argument. Outside of 60ft times, a Zonda will fucking own any mercedes on the road, including the McLaren SLR.

f=m*a more mass means the force goes up to accelerate the same when traction will be only maginally increaced. anyway... the zonda has alot more tire than the sl600 does

anyone remeber the topgear where the tug o war team pulled the merc backwords?

you can have a billion hp but if you're car weighs 4 tons and has 225 series tires you're not going anywhere fast.

[750 hp, 2950 lbs]


Pagani Zonda F

[602 hp, 2712 lbs]

not to mention, those two cars would also absolutely slaughter the Zonda in straightline performance.

heck, even the porky Veyron has a weight to power ratio of 4.2 lbs/hp, but in its case, the weight becomes a limiting factor, thereby performance on a track would be hampered.
